BATTLE DONKEY 98 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Sorry if this is a stupid question but what does clicking the thumbs up or down in the web ui do exactly? I know the heart places items in the favourites category but no idea what the thumbs do. Thanks.
cylon 15 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) As quoted by Luke: It's just one of four possible user ratings: dislike -> neutral (null) -> like -> favorite Original thread is here: http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/577-userdata-return-values/?p=17971 Edited January 23, 2014 by cylon
Lee 212 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Why would you keep it if you don't like it??? Sent by my HTC8X using Tapatalk
BATTLE DONKEY 98 Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 Lol I figured like and dislike, I just meant if it has some sorting to it after or maybe makes the recommendations based on likes. Just wondering if there was something behind the scenes maybe to make better predictions on the "if u liked this movie, check these out" tab or something. Thanks for the answers tho, I'll go read that link for better clarity
Tikuf 663 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 The favorites can be accessed on some clients by a quick menu (kinda like the ehs) android is a good example.
Pelon 203 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Why would you keep it if you don't like it??? Sent by my HTC8X using Tapatalk Because you can have multiple users and one user might like something that another might not. 2
WWWestern 94 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 ...if it has some sorting to it after or maybe makes the recommendations based on likes. To be honest, I consider the like/dislike feature is totally useless. 99% of the MB3 used at home, in the family, and these whisltes are typical for social networks. They are unnecessary and absorb a significant amount of server resources. If, in rare cases, this product is used in a large team environment (colleges, corporations, etc.), it would cost to bring these features to the plugin (possibly paid) and let the game fun. 2
ebr 16169 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 WWW - I would agree with you except for the case of music. As we mature and get some sort of smart playlist capability, these settings could come in handy. 1

As we mature and get some sort of smart playlist capability, these settings could come in handy. That's kind of what I was wondering cause right now it doesn't do much, but if some logic is applied behind the scenes (or maybe its there already, I dont know) I can see its potential in music playlists or movie/tv recommendations based on what the user has marked as thumbs up/down. As it is I haven't marked a single file with up or down vote cause it doesn't do anything now, maybe in the future it will be a usfull feature tho
Luke 42077 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 it influences the order of episodes in next up. it will be used for more as time goes on, so start personalizing.
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Why would you keep it if you don't like it??? Sent by my HTC8X using Tapatalk Someone else in the family might. I don't like Grey's Anatomy. However it is my wife's favorite show. Keeping it around is beneficial to me in the long run. 2
Lee 212 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Ah didn't think about like/dislike being user specific!!! Silly me... Sent by my HTC8X using Tapatalk
