clarkss12 304 Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 Therein, lies my problem, if client cannot natively play the video, it transcodes. My server does not have enough power to transcode on the fly. Solutions: 1. Convert all my videos to codecs that my client can play natively. Not a good option. 2. Use a different client that plays my videos natively. I have a multitude of client devices that can play the files natively, will have to test each one. 3. Purchase a device that CAN transcode on the fly. Not a good option for me, but can be doable if not to costly.
ebr 16169 Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 The Mi box, specifically, has issues with DTS. The Fire, Shield, Nexus Player, etc. can all pass it through fine.
clarkss12 304 Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 I have a Nexus player also, was going to test it yesterday, but had Ethernet problem with it. Since it uses an Intel SoC, I figured it would be able to play more codecs natively.
