rliepins 9 Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 (edited) Hi I am experiencing issues connecting to my Emby setup outside of my home network. I get a black web page, but cannot even choose a user. Checking the log, I see several instances of unknown network addresses such as below: Info HttpServer: HTTP Response 200 to ::1. Any ideas? I am also having issues connecting via Emby Theater. I recently reinstalled the server a week ago and all seemed well afterwards. But now I am having serious issues. I can connect via local clients on different platforms no problem. Server version 3.1.226.0 beta OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (patched full as of today) - 64bit I have attached a snippit of the end of the log. I did a full Windows update today and am wondering if that is the issue.... Thanks embylogsnippit.txt Edited November 18, 2016 by rliepins
rliepins 9 Posted November 19, 2016 Author Posted November 19, 2016 I am wondering if this is an IPv6 issue. The end octect of my home router is ::1, so I am wondering if that is the issue. Anyone have any ideas on this?
Luke 42078 Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 ipv6 is supported so that shouldn't be a problem. Where exactly do you get a black screen?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Do you have any virus protection software? There are some post about having to add "::1" loopback address to the exceptions list.
rliepins 9 Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 I have attached a sample of the log file related to external access issues. Again, the screen is simply black. It does not show any user profiles to choose from. It does, however, get very basic web page info, but is incomplete. Any clues? I have turned off AV. emby-problem-log.txt
Luke 42078 Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 The log file won't have much detail if the client app isn't reaching the server. Can you try the online web app at http://app.emby.media Let us know if you see different results there. thanks !
rliepins 9 Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 I do see good results using the link. What is the difference? Thanks
Luke 42078 Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 There should be no difference, assuming the server address you entered is the same one you were trying earlier.
moviefan 187 Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Have you tried multiple browsers? Clearing your cache? Sounds to me like potentially a caching issue if it works via that link but not directly.
kidsensation20 0 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 I cannot connect externally, internal works fine. I have port forwarding rule established in router and in Norton. Can you provide the specific windows services required for external access? Not sure what else to try...
Luke 42078 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 I cannot connect externally, internal works fine. I have port forwarding rule established in router and in Norton. Can you provide the specific windows services required for external access? Not sure what else to try... Hi there, welcome. Sorry to hear about this. Please try the steps listed in our Connection Troubleshooter. Please let us know exactly what steps succeed and which ones fail, as that will help us narrow down the issue. Thanks !
kidsensation20 0 Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Went through Connection Troubleshooter. All internal setup steps worked successfully. Public port 8096 is unreachable or connection timed out. I performed traceroute from external address, my external IP is good just will not allow remote access to any services. I am confident in the firewall (hard/soft) being configured correctly with port forwarding. A list of required services would help, in my opinion, to ensure something is not disabled.
kidsensation20 0 Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 To clarify above post, I have full access within my home network, but no access externally. The "public port 8096 unreachable/connection time out" was in reference to my external connection attempts
moviefan 187 Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 If you're getting access internally but canyouseeme.org shows the port is closed then the problem is with your router/firewall settings. The only service is required is that port (or the HTTPs one if you are using that). We can help you find where the configuration issue is if you include some screenshots.
dcook 299 Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 You can try turning off your Firewall, or putting your EMBY server in your DMZ and then see if you are able to access?
kidsensation20 0 Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Put my system on DMZ and still getting "ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED". What screenshots would be helpful?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Just a guess but did you restart your router and system? If it is in DMZ then I believe only your ISP could be blocking. Could you explain your network configuration.
moviefan 187 Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 These three screenshots would be helpful: Dashboard section where it shows URLs for Internal and External Access Router/Firewall configuration where the port forwarding or DMZ settings have been enabled as well as any inbound rules.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 (edited) Well (http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/) show port closed. Your second screenshot what is the last checkbox? Edited December 3, 2016 by Happy2Play
Luke 42078 Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 The next thing to check then is are you sure the internal LAN ip address is correct? Is that an address you've been familiar with prior to using emby server?
moviefan 187 Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 See attached It looks like the active box is unchecked from first glance.
kidsensation20 0 Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 The word "active" is indicating the rule is active. The checkbox is to delete the rule only.
