CharleyVarrick 283 Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 (edited) Edit: I should probably have posted this in Skin/Kodi, so sorry, feel free to move it Hi one of my smaller libraries (26Gb, about 32 "How to suck at playing golf") movies is giving me a hard time. While I was comparing Kodi library content vs. Windows folder/files, I noticed Kodi was listing substantial non-existing content, which I can't play (obviously), but I don't get the "manage" context menu choice either. OK, I then went to System/Settings/Video/Library and hit Clean Library. 2 minutes later my WHOLE (15Tb) video content vanished from Kodi, basically everything but music was gone! This never happened before when I was not using Emby. Is the "Clean Library" feature incompatible with Emby? Of course the files themselves were safe and sound, they were just wiped from Kodi. Hours later I rebuilt Kodi content, but I am back to square one with the small golf library, again showing all kinds of non-existent content. This time I went in Windows Explorer and moved all the related subfolders to a temporary different un-monitored location. Guess what, the phantom content still shows up in Kodi. In Emby web, MEDIA Golf is now empty, as well as in ADMIN Metadata Manager; while there, I hit Save and couple minutes later, I did a Perform Manual Sync. 20 minutes and succesful manual sync message later, back in Video Golf folder in Kodi and to my despair, all the phantom content is still displayed. Help? Edited November 15, 2016 by jlr19
CharleyVarrick 283 Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 I have included a log, just for heck, I selected a phantom entry in kodi at 08:23 All kinds of warnings/errors around that time in the log kodi.log
mastrmind11 722 Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Correct, Kodi's "Clean Library" is not compatible with Emby. If you want to clean the library, you have to do it from within the Emby for Kodi plugin.
CharleyVarrick 283 Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) If you want to clean the library, you have to do it from within the Emby for Kodi plugin. And where would that option be? Edited November 16, 2016 by jlr19
mastrmind11 722 Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) And where would that option be? Video > Add Ons > Emby for Kodi > Configure There are a couple of library options in there, if one doesn't work, try the next. Edited November 16, 2016 by mastrmind11
CharleyVarrick 283 Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 I am guessing they are the same options I get from the Emby shortcut (no way to check right now) Having already tried saving "Emby library Save / Perform manual sync", I am presently running "Repair Local Database (force update all content)" with movies selected. It's been going for 75 minutes and seems about 40% done... It might be useful if we could select a specific library to fix, for a mere 26 phantom files in one specific library, its scanning 12,0000 files in 8 different libraries. And unless I missed it, I haven't found detailed description of all those maintenance options in the Wiki.
Angelblue05 4132 Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) Running a manual sync will remove files that no longer exists to the Emby user. A repair is by media type, and will simply will force refresh all the content for the media type selected. Yes don't run clean library, it will wipe emby entries. How did you remove your library from emby? I think this happened because no event was triggered to remove the content from that library, but without a log, I can't say for certain. Angelblue05 4132 Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Of course if the content was not originally imported via the addon then it has no control over it. You said it's a Kodi library. If you go to videos > file, do you see your golf source? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I wish it would, but in my specific case, it doesn't Yes don't run clean library, it will wipe emby entries. Well and painfully noted, no prompt to suppress missing media at the end like I was getting before How did you remove your library from emby? From Emby web dashboard, I selected library then the golf library You said it's a Kodi library. If you go to videos > file, do you see your golf source? Yes, among all others, but I would expect that one to be as empty as it in the Windows directory, as well as it is (now) in Emby/Media/Golf Repair Local database is still underway... CharleyVarrick 283 Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) but without a log, I can't say for certain. See post# 2... That Repair Local database is done, but it did not remove phantom files I am at my witsend Edited November 16, 2016 by jlr19
Angelblue05 4132 Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) You need to remove the Kodi source. No Kodi doesn't remove anything, because the directory is empty. That's why a manual sync doesn't work, because the content you are seeing was not added by the addon, but by Kodi. Edit: for the log, I meant at the time you remove the emby library. Angelblue05 4132 Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) See post# 2... That Repair Local database is done, but it did not remove phantom files I am at my endwits It's simple. The content you are seeing is not Emby content. Remove the kodi source that's problematic and the content should get removed. In fact, you should remove any kodi sources that are in Emby. Let me know how it goes. A repair sync, as I stated earlier would not resolve this, it's only to repair existing Emby entries. OK, you got me wrong, I dont have Emby as a source + that Golf directory, they're not separate, the golf directory was added thru Emby same way as all the other libraries The only source I have in Kodi is Emby 1
Solution Angelblue05 4132 Posted November 16, 2016 Solution Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) Ok. So you don't see golf source under Kodi videos > files? Hm. Try to do a reset of your local database, by launching the emby addon. This will provide you a clean slate and will definitely remove those ghost entries. I've tested adding and removing libraries and not once had the issue you are facing. Content always gets properly removed. What type of emby library was it? CharleyVarrick 283 Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 You said it's a Kodi library. If you go to videos > file, do you see your golf source? If I go to Videos/Files, I see 4 lines: 1) the 2 dots (..) to go up one level 2) Emby 3) Emby 4) Add videos 2 and 3 are identical duplicate, when selected, they hang (freeze) for a couple minute then show all computer on my home network by name If I click the first choice (..) to go up one level, I see all my libraries at the top,
CharleyVarrick 283 Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) What type of emby library was it? Plain movies, about 30-ish, half are scraped, half are unrecognized (unknown to earthly scrapers.) Edited November 16, 2016 by jlr19
Angelblue05 4132 Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Ok, well, keep me posted on the reset of your local database. I'm not sure why removing a movie library gave so much trouble. I will do more testing on my side. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It will likely take many hours, but if it fix things, why not? 1

Its not removing the library per say that's causing the trouble, for some reason Kodi and/or Emby did not picked up on file and folder renaming I was doing straight from Windows Explorer. I can tell because all those funky file/folder names Kodi keeps displaying were all renamed properly in Windows yesterday. Edited November 16, 2016 by jlr19
CharleyVarrick 283 Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 I have an Emby for Kodi prompt asking to remove all cached artwork, Y or N?
Angelblue05 4132 Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Yes unless you keep them in a central location to all of your setups. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
CharleyVarrick 283 Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) Thx, and now its asking "Reset all Emby add-on settings?" I feel like such a newb... Then again I am a week old Emby Newb, but I know my way around Kodi, or at least I knew my way... Edited November 16, 2016 by jlr19 1
Angelblue05 4132 Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) Don't reset your settings. Hehe well we all learn one way or another. It should start resyncing your content. Your ghost entries should not get readded unless they still somehow exists in Emby. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edited November 16, 2016 by Angelblue05 1
CharleyVarrick 283 Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 The only related thing left in Emby is the Golf library, but its empty. So I restarted Kodi myself as after it closed, nothing was happening (I swear the prompt said it was restarting Kodi) We'll see the result of all that much later but thanks again for your support, thumbs up. 1
Angelblue05 4132 Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) Yes, well there's no true Kodi restart... It should maybe be worded as Kodi shut down. Edited November 16, 2016 by Angelblue05 1
