gjviii 48 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 IS there a way to remove the play button from the web client for a specific user? I host a family movie night at my house every Friday and I would like to set up an account called Family so I could send them the link of my movies so they can chose the film for the evening. I don't want them to see the play button or I have a feeling they would click it and start streaming the movies. Any thoughts if this can be done? Thanks
Luke 42077 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 That's neat. Yea I think adding that to user setup is a good idea. It'll take a little time though because the other developers are going to have to support it, or we're just going to be getting reports that it doesn't work on certain clients.
ebr 16169 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 There is already a feature request for this: http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/856-option-for-admin-to-disable-user-remote-and-web-play/
bigjohn 753 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I don't use Trakt so I don't know if what I am suggesting is possible, but could you create a Trakt account specifically to share with your family for these purposes? Not saying that this feature shouldn't be added to MB, just thinking the Trakt plugin might be a way for you to accomplish your task until the feature is implemented.
denza 0 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Have a simple question I am a newbie and just installed to test it. In the web client you have to press play button twice to hear music. For example next to a song they is a play button so you press that one assuming that the music will start but it doesn't at the bottom of the screen there is another play button. To me that is unecessary additional steps is there an option to remove that step or is that how it has been designed and it is the same thing for movies as well. My question is slightly different then what is discussed above but it deals with the web play button so appologise if I had to create a new button I will continue testing but so far it is very impressive I can play recorded tv the only thing that doesn't work is the live tv so I have to figure out what is going on.

IE will allow it although it might require you to change a setting.
denza 0 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Thanks Luke I have only tried it on the Ipad with ios7. Over the weekend I will do more testing with other browsers. Glad to know it is not by design. Maybe there is a setting in ios that I have to adjust.
Luke 42077 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 that's right. safari mobile doesnt' allow it
