Z0m8ie 26 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 If I have a short series which spans over two seasons or so but only want to have it display as one season, is there a specific way of renaming the files?. For Example I have: detectorists/season 1/ S01E01 Episode 1 S01E02 Episode 2 S01E03 Episode 3 detectorists/season 2/ S02E01 Episode 1 S02E02 Episode 2 S02E03 Episode 3 If I put all the .mkv files in one folder, what should the folder be named for it to be recognised?.
Luke 42080 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 There are a few ways I can think of that you can do this, each requiring some compromise: - Put them all into a single season, meaning you have to set the season numbers incorrectly - Use a home video library, then design your structure however you like - Put them in a collection or playlist 1

Luke 42080 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 It would just be a plain folder. You wouldn't get the episodic tv layout but it would allow you to put them all together. Maybe what you are really looking for is just a UI option in the apps to flatten all seasons without having to drill into season folders? I think some Emby for WMC themes have that.
bluemonkey07 590 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Kodi has an option to flatten tv shows also
Happy2Play 9782 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 (edited) Unless you are willing to do all custom metadata there currently is no way to combine seasons of any series. You would have to rename and write or edit all the metadata yourself. But as mentioned it looks like specific apps can give you the flattened view. Edited November 12, 2016 by Happy2Play

Not all t.v. shows just some I would like to have on one page. For example: some mini series only have about 6 episodes spanning 2 seasons.
Z0m8ie 26 Posted December 30, 2016 Author Posted December 30, 2016 (edited) Hi, Has this been fixed yet or any work round?. I noticed this option in Server: "Automatically merge series that are spread across multiple folders. If enabled, series that are spread across multiple folders within this library will be automatically merged into a single series." What does this do exactly and how does it work? sounds promising!. Edited December 30, 2016 by Z0m8ie
Luke 42080 Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Fixed would imply that there is something wrong. I think you are just looking for a UI setting to flatten a series.

Hi Luke, Agreed, not fixed. A UI setting to flatten a series would be great. So I take it that option in the server is not for flattening a series then?.
Solution bluemonkey07 590 Posted December 30, 2016 Solution Posted December 30, 2016 (edited) No it's for merging series that may have episodes located across two (or more) different libraries Edited December 30, 2016 by Vidman 1

cheerleader 0 Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 Hi guys, Ive got a question about this feature, when I have this ticked as enabled, it does combine the series as I can see the total number of episodes - but when I navigate into the series it only displays the latest episodes and not the older ones (which are in a different directory). So is this a bug or is there something I can do to fix it? Thanks in advance
Luke 42080 Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 hi @@cheerleader, can you discuss an example? Thanks !
cheerleader 0 Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 hi @@cheerleader, can you discuss an example? Thanks ! Hi there, Ok, so my drive setup is as follows: "E:\TV Shows\Family Guy" - within this folder there are "Season 1 2 3 etc" for each season "E:\TV Shows (New)\Family Guy" - again, within this folder there are the newer seasons I have. So when I enable this new feature to combine series, I can see that it combines all the family guy episodes by the total number of episodes, for example in media browser it has "2xx" episodes but when I navigate into the family guy folder, it only shows the newest seasons in the "TV Shows (New)" and not the rest. It does this for other tv shows aswell, always only showing episodes in the "New" folder only, yet the total number of episodes shows a larger number so its including the ones in the other folder but not showing them. What can I do to fix this what seems to be a bug? I've manually rescanned the library but this doesnt fix anything. Any advice would be great!
Luke 42080 Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 @@cheerleader, are these in the same Emby library? I just re-tested and it is working as expected. I followed your example and cloned my Family Guy folder into a Family Guy (new) folder. Notice now, I go into season 1, and I see all episodes from both folders (which means 2 of each):
Luke 42080 Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 However, if I go up a level, the seasons are not duplicated, as expected:
Luke 42080 Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 Using the metadata editor I would double check the following: Both series folders have the same set of external id's (tvdb, tmdb, etc) All season folders have season numbers assigned Episodes have season and episode numbers assigned Let us know how it goes. Thanks !
