Same here. .AVI's won't play. Emby server Premium running on Ubuntu 16.04 and trying to play .AVI files via Emby app on Fire TV 2.

try renaming the file to .mp4

Renaming the .avi files to .mp4 solved most of the issues with playing the .avi files. The rest I converted to .mp4.

I had the same issue a while back, the avi playback is a little stupid, so i tried a buch of stuff to get ti to work, a simple file rename did the job 99% of the time, like you all others I reencoded or repackaged.

I am happy you got this working, but this is not a solution.
