ThermoDust 12 Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 I am switching form Nvidia Shield over to Amazon something. I am currently trying the Amazon Fire Stick, it is small and simple. What I have seen so far is that Emby performance is poor. Navigation between areas seems slow and even just opening the app it loads slow(like rendering icons). Another issue I have seen is when I leave the stick idle for a long time, like when I am sleeping, I will come back and the screen will be grey. When I hit the home button I get back to the Amazon interface and try to reload the Emby app but it just won't open or shows the grey screen. Some times it crashes and I am able to reopen other times I need to restart the stick. I guess what I'd like to know is, if these issues are Amazon interface related, Emby, device strength(Should I upgrade to the Amazon Fire TV?), or a combination.
ebr 16169 Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Not Amazon really but you've gone from a Ferrari engine to a go-cart as far as processing power goes . The Fire Stick is slow with pretty much everything. The full Fire TV (or just about any other box) is a size-able improvement.
leebo 12 Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Is it just a grey screen, or does it also display the Emby logo and spinning circle? Sent from my SM-T700 using Tapatalk
nuahsocramid 3 Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 I'm running 2 Nexus Players and am experiencing the same random situation on both of them. If there's a log I can provide the next time this happens...could you step me through the process of how to capture said log? Or are there developer options I can alter to help mitigate this? Appreciate your time and efforts.
nuahsocramid 3 Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 For me, Leebo, it's a blank grey screen. To correct it I have to force close the app.

nuahsocramid 3 Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 (edited) Thank you. I've followed your link and received the notice that I'll get the beta app version downloaded/updated to, shortly. What version is the beta in so I know im on the proper version? Thanks again Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk Edited November 7, 2016 by nuahsocramid
nuahsocramid 3 Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Thank you. I've received the update and will see what transpires here on out. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
ThermoDust 12 Posted November 7, 2016 Author Posted November 7, 2016 Is it just a grey screen, or does it also display the Emby logo and spinning circle? Sent from my SM-T700 using Tapatalk Just a grey screen. I am thinking this might happen when I leave a paused program for a long time and turn off the TV. I am gave up on the Amazon Fire Stick and returned it. Gonna try the full blown Amazon TV box and hope that is better or stick with the Shield. I'd rather drive a Ferrari than a go-cart
nuahsocramid 3 Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 (edited) So I watched a recorded TV show tonight using the Beta version on my Nexus Player. I backed out to the home screen and surfed a couple other apps. After about 10mins passed I went back into the Emby app and encountered the gray screen again. When attempting to exit out I was provided a "Emby isn't responding" type message if that matters. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk Edited November 8, 2016 by nuahsocramid
ebr 16169 Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 If that happened after only 10 minutes then that is something completely unknown going on. Can you tell me when you did that and the name of the Emby user that was logged in at the time?
nuahsocramid 3 Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Thanks ebr. I've sent a separate message with account info. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
