Guest Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Hi, I'm running emby server version 3.0.8500.0 on Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS. Previously (older version of server) I had setup the Custom Intro and Codec Intro paths as follows: Manage Server --> Playback --> Cinema Mode (Tab) Custom intros path: /home/username/Videos/CustomIntro Codec intros path: /home/username/Videos/CodecIntro Then I added Path Substitution entries: Manage Server --> Library --> Path Substitution (Tab) /home/username/Videos/CustomIntro \\ip address\Videos\CustomIntro /home/username/Videos/CodecIntro \\ip address\Videos\CodecIntro This worked like a charm. I deleted the old Path Substitution entries since the IP address of my server changed. Now it seems that no more entries can be added in the Path Substitution tab and I cannot get any custom or codec intros to play before a movie. How can I add path substitution entries for the custom and codec intro paths? Thanks for the help.
Luke 42077 Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Hi, yea i guess currently there is no way to do this but how are they not able to play? They should still be able to stream through the http server.
Guest Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 Hi Luke. Sorry for the long delay. Just got around to trying your suggestion and it works. I guess my setting was to use SMB instead of HTTP. I checked that setting and intros are playing fine now (BTW... this is with Kodi). So I'm guessing that there is no difference in the quality between SMB and HTTP? i.e., It'll still "direct play" the audio and video without transcoding?
Guest Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 BTW clicked "Post" before saying Thanks for the info! Will you add the Path Substitution for the Codec and Custom Intro paths?

I suppose we could but in the interests of simplicity I'm curious to know why they fail to play through the http server. Everything is supported whether it's HD audio passthrough, etc. so it can't be related to loss of feature. I know it's a nice optimzation for large videos to go straight to the file system but in this case we're generally talking about 30 second video files.
