Joshua B 1 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 When viewing my library in the web browser, how is it determined which shows (in Edit > Images) show Browse Online Images button and which do not? Thanks!
Joshua B 1 Posted January 21, 2014 Author Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) Ok, these have folder names of reasonably popular TV shows including: 60 Minutes Borgias Catfish The Challenge Curb Your Enthusiasm Dancing with the Stars etc. None of these show up in the Shows listing either. (mediabrowser/dashboard/tvshows.html) Anything I might be doing wrong, or does this sound normal?Edit: Doh, it looks like because they're also empty folders. Oops! Edited January 21, 2014 by Joshua B
ebr 16169 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 What do we think about resolving empty folders (or folders with no sub-folders) as TV Series in any media folder designated as "TV"?
Luke 42077 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 i think it is bound to be problematic. as soon as an episode or season is placed inside it becomes a series. In this case I wonder if he set them up as home videos based on his other thread yesterday.
ebr 16169 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Actually, not as soon as. You have to actually run a full library scan after putting the first episode in. At first, you end up with a folder with an unknown video in it. It seems that, if the media folder is designated as TV, any folder that doesn't have a sub-folder can be assumed to be a TV series. This would solve both of these problems (the one the OP had and the problem after you add the episode).
Luke 42077 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 i think maybe if it's right under the top level folder it might be fine.
Joshua B 1 Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) Yeah, my shows are set up this way: /TV Series /Glee Glee S01E01.mkv Glee S01E02.mkv Glee S02E03.mkv TV Series is set up as Folder Type: TV Shows. Some TV series folders have video files inside, some are empty. It would be nice if MB found and kept series metadata even if there are no video files inside. I think there are others like me who delete episodes after watching. Edited January 21, 2014 by Joshua B
Luke 42077 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 do you have our internet providers enabled? currently you have to in order for most online image browsing to work.
Luke 42077 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 although that wouldn't explain why it doesn't show up in the shows page
Joshua B 1 Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 Yes, automatic updates for both providers are turned on in Metadata > Advanced. MB is doing a great job of pulling in metadata and images for shows where I have actual video files in my series folders. So no problem there.
ebr 16169 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 It doesn't show up in shows because the server classifies it as just a folder.
Joshua B 1 Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 Yes, when I have actual video files inside the Glee folder. :-)
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 You can force empty folders to show up by editing them and inserting the proper ID from a metadata source. Save that, and click Refresh Metadata. You can also fool it with empty txt files renamed for the show with an mkv extension. Just don't try to play them.
Luke 42077 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 if we have a source for online images for that particular item or not
Luke 42077 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 the system must not have classified them as tv series. you should review your series folder structures with the media library wiki.
