enforcersu 1 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 I'm able to play all my DVRd shows (DVR setup through NextPVR using HDHomerun Connect and Prime) on my Windows PC. However, when I go to play on the FireTV app, I get an error 'Unable to play video, trying again!' and it tries about 3 times before failing out. The files are .TS files, which appear to be supported by the wiki, however, it seems to open up the transcoding to try to play them. I'm not quite sure how to get this to work. Happy to supply logs if necessary, unless I'm just missing something simple in the setup?
Luke 42077 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 What you should do is add your recordings from Next Pvr to Emby as a regular video library so that it doesn't have to use next pvr as a middleman in between.
enforcersu 1 Posted October 31, 2016 Author Posted October 31, 2016 So I've done that. I am still getting the playback errors on AFTV
Luke 42077 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 We're sorry to hear about that. in order to best help you, please provide the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks !
ebr 16169 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Also, when you say you can play them "on your Windows PC" what, exactly do you mean? Using what app?
enforcersu 1 Posted October 31, 2016 Author Posted October 31, 2016 When playing on my windows PC I'm using the webapp. Just sent logs from the AFTV. Was logged in as user 'Steve' and tried to play Russillo and Kanell DVR'd show, though I've gotten the same error on every show I've tried to play. Let me know if you need the server logs as well.
Luke 42077 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Yes, please discuss web app playback if you're having an issue there. Thanks.
enforcersu 1 Posted October 31, 2016 Author Posted October 31, 2016 No issues on the webapp, the only issue is in FireTV play. If I could get this to work on FireTV I'd be golden!
Luke 42077 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Please attach the server logs corresponding to the fire tv session as well. Thanks.
ebr 16169 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 The item is transcoding so please post that log as well. The Google player does not like whatever it is being fed out of the transcode. What options do you have set in the app? Specifically, the bitstream and audio options?

Default options, haven't changed them at all.
enforcersu 1 Posted October 31, 2016 Author Posted October 31, 2016 Hmm your comment made me toy around with the settings, and Downmix to Stereo output seems to allow this to play fine...is that WAI with FireTV? (It's the most recent FireTV if that matters)

(It's the most recent FireTV if that matters) Well, that depends on your equipment. When you first ran the app a message popped up that said we could send audio directly or downmix to stereo and, if you didn't have equipment that could handle the direct streams, you needed to set it to downmix. What type of audio equipment is being used?
enforcersu 1 Posted October 31, 2016 Author Posted October 31, 2016 Using a samsung soundbar connected to a Samsung 4khdtv. Didn't think I would have to downmix, but I suppose I do (sorry relative newb to this)
ebr 16169 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 I should think that would support DD (AC3) but something doesn't like it. How is the soundbar connected to the TV? How is the Fire connected? No receiver is involved I guess...
enforcersu 1 Posted October 31, 2016 Author Posted October 31, 2016 No receiver involved. Soundbar is connected through Samsung Sound Connect. AFTV is connected through HDMI to the TV
ebr 16169 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Soundbar is connected through Samsung Sound Connect. If that is some sort of wireless connection, then that probably explains it.
