Which ID3-Version is supported by Emby?

 

Can I use ID3v2.4?

Hi, welcome. We use ffprobe. It supports id3v2 although I've been searching to try to find an answer for you on 2.4 but haven't found anything yet.

Maybe I should test it.

v2.4 is great because of the native support of multiple values in genres and artists without "cheating" with ; or some other chars.

I read this on the ffprobe page.

I think when writing v2.4 is default, then ffprobe is able to read it too.

Tested it out.

 

ID3v2.4 doesn't work completly in Emby.

 

It reads only the first Item from a "list" of artists for example.

Can you provide a sample file for testing? In understand you're perceiving this as "doesn't work in Emby", but we are only utilizing the information provided by the tools we depend on. Thanks.

This one is an empty mp3.file ... the file has only mp3 tags.

How do i download exactly? everything on that page looks suspicious and not something i would normally want to click. I did click Download but that did not actually result in a file being downloaded.

ahh... saw it.

It opens an ad and you have to click download again.

What did you do to this file? because ffprobe is just failing on it, even from a standalone command line. it would be easier to just supply an actual library file.

This is only a empty textfile renamed and tagged with id3v2.4.

Could be possible it fails.

 

If you have a license free mp3 for me, I tag it for you.

I won't upload a licensed file.
