I know I asked this once before, maybe it was in the middle of an existing thread. I searched and could not find it...  But I'm finally setting up my home theater, and I would like a client DEVICE that supports full DTS-HD MA and TRUEHD audio...   I believe my preferred device was going to be an nvidia shield... But in case anything has changed, can you please remind me what DEVICES will support DTS-HD MA?

I have the Nvidia Shield (2 actually) and I see DTS-HD MA come through just fine through the Emby App and Kodi. I don't think I have any TrueHD audio in any of my files so I can't speak for that one.

This device is now the ONLY one I watch anything on, both downstairs and upstairs.

I'm pretty sure you're going to end up using Theater desktop. I have an Atmos home theater, and it works perfectly. What is your speaker configuration?

So this will all be changing as 3.3 for the Shield is being tested right now.  For Plex this will bring support for dTS-HD and True-HD, so the capability should be there for Emby as well.  Hopefully they add my device to the beta list soon so I can actually test.

OK, so you're not using Atmos, the shield would probably be enough if you have an object processing receiver. And it looks as though bitstreaming TrueHD is on the horizon.

Well...    I kind of like the idea of using a PC as well... So I might just go with the alienware alpha, ive been wanting to try one with emby anyway, and its only a bit more than the shield...  by a bit i mean double lol...   http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/productdetails/alienware-alpha-r2-desktop?ref=PD_OC   but I know the built in nvidia GTX 960 gpu will support whatever i need for while...

Very nice. You'd want the Nvidia card, for hardware acceleration, but I think that would be a better choice than the shield

If you can, I'd recommend an Atmos setup.

@ yea, since I just bought the 7.2 receiver, I was able to return it and get the atmos receiver...   I'll add the additional speakers later lol...   But the sony receiver I had originally went with, sucked anyway. Stay clear of sony receivers...  I ended up going with the Denon AVR-X6300...        Also got the alienware in already and emby theater installed on it...  So far so good!   bit streams all of my formats!   I'm pretty happy so far!  Thanks guys for the help...  I'm running out of money for this home theater project...  LOL Ill have to buy the seating and carpet next year tax time..    ^_^    I'm fine with sitting on a futon for now lol...

Nice! If you get Atmos staged correctly, you'll love it. As for Sony, I'll never buy anything of theirs. They used to be a good brand, but now they're overpriced mediocrity. Denon make some good stuff. I chose a pioneer elite because I wanted to match the Atmos enabled speakers with it. Since I bought it, they've discontinude it and come out with a new line. I so want the flagship receiver, but that will have to wait a bit, lol (I've bought a bunch of new computer stuff). The speakers I have are the same ones you see in the video (well, the front two are). They are really nice. That alienware unit looks nice. I was thinking I may get a NUC at some point, but that looks better
