Mixing series from different folders

Recommended Posts

Hello,

to understand my issue I need to explain how my data structure looks like.

I have the following folders setup:

-> /mnt/series/       - (containing german series)

-> /mnt/series-en/  - (containing english series)

So, there are a couple of the same series in both folders, but in different languages actually.

-> /mnt/series/2.Broke.Girls/         (german)

-> /mnt/series-en/2.Broke.Girls/    (english)

The problem is now, that emby is mixing those folders together, as they have the same Name. To solve this issue, I renamed my english series:

-> /mnt/series/2.Broke.Girls/                    (german)

-> /mnt/series-en/2.Broke.Girls.English/  (english)

With that emby doesn't mix up the series, but the english series doesn't get detected (detected as: fetching metadata, plots etc). When I identify the english series, so that metadata get fetched, emby is mixing up those series again.

What does "mixing up mean?": If I play the german series in order, it plays the first episode in german, then the first episode in english - the second episode in german, the second episode in english - and so forth.

Could that issue be fixed? This is really annoying for me as you can imagine.

Sure, I could simply not identify the series, but I want my library to be nice and clean, but that doesn't work out withouth the correct metadata.

Thanks in advance.

In a future release if you have different metadata languages configured for the two entries, then we will not combine them. Thanks.

This means I need to set a language tag in the metadata?

This is do the Series Pooling feature.  There are several topics around about it.  Currently all same series in same library get grouped together.

Here is the feature request to remove it or have a option to disable it.

Actually I do have it in two different libraries in the same emby instance:

- series                -> (german series)

- series (english) ->

Well ultimately you're going to have to do something by setting something somewhere.

How are the libraries added to the servers? Dashboard-Library

Are they Two separate libraries or two folders added to one library?

If you define an emby server instance as one library, then its in one library.

I have running one server, where I added two different folders (series vs series-en) to two different libraries (series vs series-en) - just like you add movies to one library and music to another.

Unfortunately you will have to wait for this fix then.  Other post say it is only suppose to affect the same Library.

So you have one library "Series" and one library "Series-en" and each one points to there perspective folders?  So on the Home screen you have two options, Series and Series-en?

Example 2 separate libraries Kids TV and TV

yea if they're in separate libraries that's also a way to prevent them from being combined.

Well, was it always like that?

Since the last time I tried to identify the english series they got mixed up - I really don't care if i have to split it up in two different libraries (as I already have it like that).

... or did this feature change during the ~last year?

There have been several requests for a series pooling option in Emby so it was added here. Yes it is a relatively new feature to Stable release.
