zella 0 Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Hi guys, I recently put my films on a freenas box, previously they had been on a local drive and I have been using MB2 and recently MB3 with no problem for years. The new freenas network drive is encrypted and the CIFS share is password protected. The share works fine, I have full control over the files within it (browse, read, write etc). Problem is that when I try and add this network location to MB3 server it wont work. The UNC path I am using is correct (\\freenas\media\films). When I put it into my web browser I get a list of index as expected, and i am able to use the address in explorer to navigate directly to the folder. when I add \\freenas\media\films as a media location it tells me "the path does not exist" when I try and navigate to it by clicking NETWORK>>FREENAS>>MEDIA, once I click media it tells me "the parameter is incorrect" I wish I could give you more information regarding the problem but the server is very unhelpful with giving detailed error info (maybe there is some advanced logging I can enable, please tell me if so). I switched back to media browser 2, and when I try and add this network location it simply crashes. I installed XBMC and I can add the network location no problem, so this is definitely an issue with MB3. Please help, I have really gotten accustom to MB and I really dont want to switch to XBMC. I am using win 8.1 if you need to know any other details please ask. Thanks in advance z
Beardyname 198 Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Try removing the password protection on the shares, as of now i don't think there is any way to add login information for shares.
taisau 0 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Exact same problem with a freenas cifs share open with guest, no password req'd.
dmarqueset 0 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 I am having the same issue but I am using a WD My Book Live. I've tried removing all passwords, adding the admin account to the security properties but nothing worked.
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 These are SMB and not NFS shares correct? If you're using NFS shares, you will probably need NFS client software for Windows.
dmarqueset 0 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 I am having the same issue but I am using a WD My Book Live. I've tried removing all passwords, adding the admin account to the security properties but nothing worked. My issue has been solved. Instead of using UNC \\device name\Public\Shared Videos, I used \\IP Address\Public\Shared Videos and it allowed me to save the path. I need to make sure the devices receive the same address whenever the router restarts.
