Recorded TV/Library Path

With the new update that removed Path Substitution I started looking at my Library paths. They are all network shares except for Recorded TV. When I originally setup Recorded TV it was not yet a separate Library. So I set the path for Recorded TV to the local E: drive on the server. So now I am wondering if I should create a network share for E: and reconfigure the server to record tv to the network share and reconfigure the library to point to the network share as well. Would that benefit me at all?

Your path substitutions that you entered before still apply, so if everything is functioning as you like then i would leave it alone and worry about it the next time you change something in library setup.

I honestly do not remember if I had path substitutions turned on for that library or not. How can I verify whether or not it's using path substitutions now that the Substitution tab doesn't show anything? When I view Recordings via the web interface it shows me the path using the local drive.

Why don't we start with, what problem are you trying to solve? If the answer is nothing then I would just leave it alone.

No so much a problem as I was just thinking that since my recorded shows which are MPEG2 files and are being transcoded by my FireTV client, maybe if I changed the Recordings Path to be a network share then maybe they would play straight without transcoding.

I was also thinking that I should just reconfigure the Recorded TV Library to point to a network share so that way it's consistent with my other libraries.

Using a network share will not affect their transcoding on the fire.
