jasonmcroy 316 Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 So, I may have a different setup than most in regards to my devices. I have two HDHomeruns, a Prime and a Connect. The connect is pulling in my Qam channels. When I setup the Schedules Direct guide I always end up with two channels for the major networks like NBC, FOX, CBS and ABC. My workaround for this when recording is to select "Only Record on this Channel" in the settings and it will let me select the specific channel. Otherwise it would record, let's say The Simpsons on FOX on both the Prime unit and the Connect device at the same time. With the last server update, even though that option is still there to "Only record on this channel" it's still recording on both instances of that channel. This is only an issue on the major networks because obviously TNT, AMC and such don't come through the Qam channels. I realized it was happening tonight with The Exorcist being duplicated as it comes on the FOX network. I end up with two copies of the one show. One of the two will have a number 1 appended at the end of the title of it. I just tested it again with Family Guy that was airing on a station that comes in through my Connect and Prime unit and each time it records now on both devices at the same time.
ebr 16195 Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 It isn't really recording two shows on different channels, right? It is recording the same show on two instances of the same channel...?
jasonmcroy 316 Posted October 16, 2016 Author Posted October 16, 2016 Yes, that is exactly what is happening. NBC is 8.1 on the connect and 1008 on the Prime so I have 2 different listings in the guide. It used to work fine just selecting "Record on this channel only" but since the last server upgrade it doesn't matter if I select that.
ebr 16195 Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 The previous behavior was probably a bug but we'll have to see how to handle this specific situation.
jasonmcroy 316 Posted October 16, 2016 Author Posted October 16, 2016 Do you mean I shouldn't have been able to do it the way I was doing it before? I started being able to do that when you guys introduced the ability to add 2 devices (there was a time you could only have one). I always set up two separate Schedules Direct guides to each individual device and then when I would schedule a recording, if I selected the show to record from the guide for say the Connect device the server would only recognize that device for that recording (even if was for a Series) and always record on that channel only. It seems like now the server is recognizing both devices for all channels. Maybe it's now grouping them differently? It currently makes my setup unusable because on some nights I am recording 5 shows at one time using all the tuners available. That isn't the case every night, just Monday and Wednesday. I was always careful to select the recordings correctly so that there were no conflicts. On the HDHomerun DVR the software just selects the next available tuner automatically instead of me having to decide which of the duplicate channels to use for the different shows.
jasonmcroy 316 Posted October 17, 2016 Author Posted October 17, 2016 I don't know if this helps or not, but if I select a show to record as a one time recording on NBC (not setting it up as a series) it will only record on that one device's tuner and not both devices. So, it is only doing it if I set up a Series recording. Let me know if I can provide anything else that may be helpful. I can at least for now use the above as a workaround.
jasonmcroy 316 Posted October 21, 2016 Author Posted October 21, 2016 I am curious is anything was changed on purpose in the latest Beta in regards to this issue or if it's a fluke? I updated to Beta version 3.1.196.0 and tested and in my initial testing it looks like it's respecting the action "Only record on X Channel" now. I am just bringing it up in case you knowingly changed something so you many know what it is you changed.
Luke 42085 Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Well i wasn't aware of it not honoring it but i'm glad it's working now.
jasonmcroy 316 Posted October 21, 2016 Author Posted October 21, 2016 Well i wasn't aware of it not honoring it but i'm glad it's working now. Oh, you must have missed this post. I noticed that only ebr responded earlier. Yeah, when I updated the Stable server Emby TV started recording on both of my HDHomerun devices despite me selecting it to only record on the one channel (I have a connect and a prime). It only started for me with the last two stable versions. I started using the Betas because you update that one almost every day hoping one of them would fix the issue (and hoping you added in Remux Only - hint, hint ) and with today's Beta so far it seems like it's respecting the one channel only option. I have only tested two shows so far though. I am a little surprised I am the only one with two different devices that had the issue to be honest. If I see it come up again as a problem I will update this post.
