tjlmbklr 10 Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I want to share a Guest account to a friend. Their IPS is providing 10Mbsp Down I have 18Mbps Down and 1.5Mbps up (when it's working right that is). Should I be setting my Internet streaming bitrate limit (Mbps): no higher that 1.5Mbps like 1.25? Then On their end, the playback settings on their device needs to match? Sorry, this is a little foreign to me.
ebr 16169 Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 With that upload speed I would limit your bandwidth for streaming to about 1Mb/s. That will still mean that you can only provide one stream at a time under the best of conditions. The app side settings shouldn't matter because the server side should limit it. I will say, though, I would not expect stellar performance with only 1.5Mb up...

RanmaCanada 494 Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 If your upstream is that limited, I would suggest moving over to x265 files, and ensuring your friend has a device that can direct play them. Reason is for the bandwidth saving. A 45 minute tv show can be as small as 200 megs, though I personally prefer around 330.
