I notice a lot of my channels (premium) are not working.  It seems they may be encrypted.  But I have purchased a cablecard box from my provider, used via hdhomerun to serverWMC to emby.  Anybody have any tips on this?

If the channels you're trying to use are copy-protected, serverWMC cannot access them.

This is the case for my premium services like HBO, and Starz.

Which channels are copy-protected or not really depends on the provider and the market.

I thought this was the whole purpose of running serverwmc?  Because microsoft is the only trusted streamer of DRM material...

No, WMC was the only one with the license.

 

It is the playback engine that needs to be able to decode it.  With the move towards streaming apps for all of these platforms, I don't know that we'll ever see another platform with generic DRM built in.
