Not sure if this is the right place for this question, what the correct nomenclature for this function is or even if there is an answer but here goes.

I was recently watching 'The Martian' and there is a section set in China which should be subtitled even though the rest of the film isn't. But the subtitles didn't kick in.

So,

- is this unsupported without enabling subtitles for the whole film?

- is it a setting on emby-server (up to date and running on CentOS7)?

- Is it a setting related to ripping the DVD (makemkv)?

- is it a function of emby for kodi running on osmc - or osmc itself?

Thanks.

What are the subtitle settings in your user profile, under Playback ??

For something like that, you need "Only forced subtitles" set, or try the "Smart" option

Not sure if the subtitle file itself needs to have forced in the name somewhere.

I know @@FrostByte has some, so hopefully he can confirm.

CBers, thanks.

I'll check the settings when I get home.

I don't have a separate subtitles file, just the single .mkv file. Is that something that I would need to copy from the DVD or is it a setting in makemkv? I've got more 'looking 'up' to do, haven't I?

Thanks again.

If it's internal, then that may be different.

Hopefully others will help out.

Sorry, where was this?

I've looked in Playback on the server but I don't have that option in Cinema Mode, Resume Settings, Streaming or Transcoding.

Am I in the right place?

I can't see an option like that in Emby for Kodi/OSMC either.

Thanks.

Thanks again. I've been at this a couple of weeks now and I'm still only scratching the surface.

What a product!
