Lid 4 Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Hi, I have searched the forums for this and have found a few topics but nothing quite covers what I am looking for. Everything to do with Media Stubbing mentions following the Wiki guide which I have done. So I have a folder named "Shrek (2001)" for example with an empty file inside called "Shrek (2001).dvd.disc". The artwork and nfo metadata is fetched as expected and it shows in my movies library but when I press play I get a message displayed saying "Playback Error", on the web interface the message is "The content chosen is not playable from this device" and on ET "MessagePlaybackErrorPlaceHolder". Obviously pressing play isn't going to play any video but should it ask to insert a disc or something rather than displaying an error message? Although I can see here that someone else also receives an error message so maybe that is normal. As a side note Is it possible to display a simple message with a disc number as show in Kodi here for media archived onto number discs. At the moment my way around this from when using MB2 was to create small dummy video files with a text overlay with the DVD number or simply the word DVD if it was a genuine DVD. I would rather have stub files than fake video files if possible. Sorry if I have missed anything simple but I can't see anything about how the stub files are actually meant to function once they have been created. Thank you Liam
Luke 42086 Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Yea the message should be improved, thanks.
Luke 42086 Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Hi @@Miltos, can you please describe your issue exactly? Thanks !
Miltos 0 Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 (edited) Hi Luke, thank you for answering. When I used Kodi without emby I had some folders name eg 300 (2006) with a file in it named 300 (2006).disc. In the file were the next lines: <discstub> <title>300 (2006)</title> <message>DVD no 189</message> </discstub> So when in movie view push the play, a message was seen sayong the above. Now I use Kodi 17.1 with emby and the message I receive after push play is "playback failed" and "one or more items failed to play". Sorry for my English Edited April 18, 2017 by Miltos

Sorry for my English I'm not sure why you're getting an error (instead of the usual Media Stub message that Emby displays), but I am pretty sure that Emby does not support reading the embedded data in your .disc files, but that embedded data shouldn't be causing the error (because as far as I know, Emby doesn't read that data at all). Having said that, I think that is an interesting feature which I might like to see added to Emby. I'll write up a feature request for that... Edited April 18, 2017 by funwithmedia
Luke 42086 Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Ok, we'll get the text fixed for Emby Theater, thanks.
funwithmedia 373 Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Just for another data point, I see "Playback Error" followed by "Please insert the disc in order to play this video." I'm on Emby Theater for Windows 10 desktop. I am not using Kodi.
