kanipek 230 Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 (edited) Just started. I was doing nothing to the PC. Was version 3.0.7100 now version 3.0.7200 I did see that a recording did not kickoff as scheduled and that it is retrying. Please help! Plugins removed. Thanks for reading and any help you can provide! Edit - Removing timers.json and seriestimers.json from Live TV seems to stop the crashing Edit 2 - Added back seriestimers.json still no crash. server-63609914725.txt server-63609914756.txt server-63609914818.txt Edited September 20, 2016 by kanipek
pir8radio 1312 Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 (edited) Is your live tv even working? Looks like its trying to record a show and "Tuner not found." I'm no emby expert... Even if that is the issue, I wouldn't think that should crash the server... Edited September 20, 2016 by pir8radio
kanipek 230 Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 (edited) This is crazy crazy. I don't use Live TV for viewing. Just recording. Have not tried viewing anything - yet. So not sure what the heck happened but the timers.json file in Live TV was the problem. I discovered that by going into the series list and then each individual series - making a slight change and then changing that back it rebuilt a new timers.json file - and so far solved the problem. I am far from an Emby expert myself. I thank you for your thoughts though. Still love to hear from our resident experts though on what they think happened. Edited September 20, 2016 by kanipek
Luke 42085 Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Can you describe what crashing means? There isnt' any evidence of crashing here. It looks like the server is having trouble locating your tv tuner when it comes time to record, I would ensure that your tv tuner is plugged in, turned on, and connected to the network. Then i would check that in Emby Server live tv setup to verify if the tuner ip addresses are correct. They may have changed, and the server does try to handle this automatically, but it's not always perfect about that.

I don't know how "crashing " is defined - but I define it as the server refusing to stay running, I would start it and it would start run for a moment then stop - in my case over and over. I would agree about the log. All of the tuners are always on and I am notified if one goes missing from the network, ip addresses are reserved for all tuners. Very strange. I don't if you can use the Live TV .json files and replicate what I was seeing on another server or not. But I have attached a zip of both. Thanks for reading!! livetv json.zip
pir8radio 1312 Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 I think what he is asking, if you go into your emby server, can you VIEW live tv? To assure emby is connected to the tuner.. It can be on the network with a valid IP and pass a ping test but not available for use in emby..
kanipek 230 Posted September 21, 2016 Author Posted September 21, 2016 (edited) I did get what was being asked - I guess I am just not good at clearly describing what I have done for troubleshooting. Rest assured I did check everything suggested by Luke and Pir8radio and I appreciate that info! So this problem I believe I have figured out the cause. How the problem occurred is another matter. So yesterday(09/20) I had scheduled Brooklyn Nine-Nine to record and it did not. But the server did NOT begin a - and forgive me I don't know a better term - crashing loop where the server would stop and I would restart then it would stop again over and over. So I went into the series list and looked at the entry for Brooklyn Nine-Nine all looked good except it listed the channel as "undefined" should have been WJWHD. So that is why we are seeing those "Error getting channel stream" errors in the logs. Why and How it happened I do not understand - I scheduled all the series from the guide page using the sliders at top and side to move around. I did check the rest of the series recordings I have set up and all of the series on WJWHD were now coming up undefined and one other series on WEWSHD also was undefined - all the other series on WEWSHD and the remaining channels were still normal. Anyways I deleted the affected series and rescheduled them and we'll see what happens. Bug? Something I did? - Haven't done any channel scanning on the tuners. A few system reboots and a couple of windows updates is all that I have done aside from I think three Emby Server updates since I began testing it out. Edited September 21, 2016 by kanipek
