moviefan 187 Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 So I just got an Apple TV 4 to do some testing with and noticed that the first file I tried to play was direct streaming. Confused though because I thought that AppleTV neither could play MKV files or understand DTS. My understanding of Direct Streaming was that Emby was just feeding a URL to the client which pointed to the raw file. Has Direct Streaming somehow changed its meaning? How is this possible?
ebr 16169 Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 What log was produced on the server? It was probably just being re-muxed which is a pretty light operation.
moviefan 187 Posted September 19, 2016 Author Posted September 19, 2016 Log file attached. Based on the filename yes I guess it was a remux. So why would it say Direct Streaming in the console?
ebr 16169 Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 That is what our competition calls that operation (a remux) and we have always been at a perceived disadvantage because we were more accurate with our descriptions.
