HawkLord 0 Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Hi, after numerous days of searching the forums, help files, etc. I am no closer to an answer. My question is this: will purchasing Emby Premiere give me better video quality when viewing files either on my computer or through chromecast? I've played with all the settings as suggested by various people here and my Full DVD's still look like crap, and other shows are just fuzzy. On the computer the highest setting available to me is 480p - 1.0Mb. I used to run Plex and had no playback issues at all. I prefer Emby for many reasons, however the low quality playback is soon going to make me look elsewhere. Help please. Robert.
Guest asrequested Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 If the file isn't transcoding, the picture quality should be unaltered. Can you share a sample?
HawkLord 0 Posted September 18, 2016 Author Posted September 18, 2016 Hi, Emby won't even play the dvd anymore. The error is: Video ErrorThere was an error playing the video.Support for playback of folder rips and ISOs in this app is only expirimental. For best results, try an Emby app that supports these formats natively, or use plain video files. Emby was playing it earlier but in 480p and super fuzzy. I'll work on getting a screengrab of another fuzzy show. Thanks, Rob
HawkLord 0 Posted September 18, 2016 Author Posted September 18, 2016 Also still wondering about Emby Premiere. Will it upgrade picture quality in general?
Guest asrequested Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Also still wondering about Emby Premiere. Will it upgrade picture quality in general? The server does the transcoding, and premiere pretty much allows playback, so the quality should be unaffected. You haven't given any information on which apps you're trying to use. Folder ripped DVDs can be problematic. You'd be advised to remux them into MKV or MP4. Without further information or a sample, I can't help you very much.
Luke 42077 Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Hi, sorry to hear about this. Can you please supply an ffmpeg log? Instructions on how to do that can be found here: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks.
