dennyreiter 1 Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 For the last week or so, whenever I seek forward in a video, the time bar goes back to 0:00, even though it fasts forwards properly. I've duplicated this behavior between two different (Linux) servers and and both a Galaxy S7 and a Galaxy View tablet. Android app version 2.7.55, but was also present on 2.7.50 Emby server version 3.1.143.0 Thanks 6e74cc12-07a0-4903-83ef-6af1d9ef61fb.log
Luke 42077 Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Hi, can you try the latest version of the app, 2.7.82? Thanks !
dennyreiter 1 Posted September 12, 2016 Author Posted September 12, 2016 Sorry, I guess I'm an idiot. I looked in the play store instead of in the Application manager. This is 2.7.82
seanbuff 1315 Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Yes this also happening for me too in v2.7.83 Let me know if you need some logs.
Luke 42077 Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 I've pushed 2.7.84 to the open beta with a fix for this. Please try it out when you have a chance. Thanks. 1
rikiwi 32 Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Thanks so much Luke - Version 2.7.84This was driving me insane, especially when trying to skip ads in my recorded TV. I can confirm that this is now working perfectly on my Sony Z3 phone and my old Nexus 7 tablet.
Kimballslice1890 8 Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 I have had the Emby app for a few months now. The server is completely up to date. The app is updated always as soon as new release hits play store. My phone is a Nexus 5x. I have tried this on my Nexus 7 2013 tablet as well. I can watch movies/shows but I cannot fast forward, rewind, or click and drag to a different point on the show. What will happen is i will drag and it will show me the time i dragged to, nothing happens. I hit pause then play and it jumps back to where i was, sometimes it just starts the video over. This is very irritating and has caused me to have to setup a Plex server just for my android device. I am using the free version the Emby server, I am hesitant to invest in the premier for this reason. The Emby app was paid and unlocked. I have searched the forums and cannot find anything about this. please help! this occurs on Android 5.1.1, 6.0, 6.0.1, 7.0
Luke 42077 Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 hi, welcome. i actually have both devices for testing and haven't seen this issue. please provide the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !
Kimballslice1890 8 Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Just so they were fresh. I loaded an episode of archer. Tried drag the bar to a later point in the show, it acknowledges that I do this but nothing happens. If I hit pause then play on the android app itself it jumps back to where it was playing from initially. Idk if it makes a difference, but I only have HTTPS ports open for access outside of my LAN. Luke 42077 Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Are you using a custom ssl cert or the default self signed cert?
Kimballslice1890 8 Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Could this be related to me using the free version and not the paid version? or is that not an issue?
Luke 42077 Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 No that's not related. I do see some server-side ssl errors so i'll have to see what's going on there. thanks.
stelle007 1 Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 (edited) I still have this issue. I can't seek on android app when using SSL, I'm on app version 2.7.89, and server version 3.0.7200.0. It works fine on non ssl. Please assist. EDIT: Moved to newer post: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/39388-cannot-fast-forward-rewind-or-seek/?hl=seek Edited September 29, 2016 by stelle007

stelle007 1 Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Hi, I will respond to that here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/39695-losing-https-need-to-restart-service/&do=findComment&comment=371598 Thanks. Thanks, but that post is about loosing connection to https, I also experience that issue, but the seek issue persists on https even though https is still responding. Also, I don't see an answer to https stops responding in there ither. Please help.
Luke 42077 Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 The answer is that the mono runtime used by the server currently only supports up to TLS 1.0, and for some devices that need TLS 1.2 this may cause a problem. The SSL in the video player is different than browsing the app. The recently released mono 4.6 now supports TLS 1.2, and we will begin testing that soon: http://www.mono-project.com/docs/about-mono/releases/4.6.0/ Thanks.

Great, thank you. I found a workaround by putting a reverse proxy in front, and do URL rewrite from HTTPS to http, this worked perfectly.
