Metadata Editor

I posted about this before in an earlier version.  It was fixed in subsequent releases, but is once again broken in stable release 3.0.7100.0.  The behavior is slightly different this time, as I am able to DELETE information I don't want (e.g., Studios), however I am unable to add Studios.  When I click on the "Add" button, nothing happens.  The behavior is the same regardless of browser (Edge, Internet Explorer, Firefox).

I don't have a need to edit other parts of the metadata, but just for completeness, I cannot add genres, Countries, plot keywords, or tags--they behave exactly the same as attempting to add Studios.

Just a small update: I am able to add People with no issues.  I did not try to delete any.

I just tested stable version in Chrome and was able to add and delete.

@@Luke Yes I see issues in IE, Firefox didn't have a chance to test on Edge.

@@Happy2Play are you saying that there is NO issue with adding as I have reported?

--Edited: Now I see.  You say no problem in Chrome, but possibly in others.

Yes, just to confirm with Happy2Play.  Chrome is the only browser I tried that works.

Chrome is the best browser to use anyway :)

Hi,

You can add to the list ( :( ) The "Add" buttons are not working in the new updates for TuneIn and Podcasts as well

But testing I would think should be across all "supported" browsers

I'm with @@Vicpa on this one.  Just taking it for what I read: other browsers weren't tested.

Whether Chrome is the best browser is subjective and not germane to this discussion, though I understand it was stated in jest.

Testing across all "supported" browsers is just a small part of the problem.

The frequency of Emby "stable" releases makes it impossible to run even a basic regression test, if such an animal exists, across all supported platforms.  A basic regression test would've likely caught the problem identified in this thread.

My two pesos: pre-existing functionality shouldn't break between minor releases.

I want to be respectful here, so please don't be offended @@Luke or anyone on the development team.  I appreciate that Emby probably isn't your full-time jobs.  Having said that, especially as an engineer myself, I appreciate the efforts on this project and I'm sure everyone else does too.  Please keep it up.

Are there any updates to this issue?  I am running emby 3.0.7100.0 on Edge browser and experiencing the same problem as described above (can delete, but cannot add metadata items).

I'm running the Linux version of Emby Server.  Just found that there was a new version released today (3.0.7200).  It fixes the metadata issue I reported in this thread.  I tested it using Edge on my Windows 10 box and Firefox on my Linux box.

Where can we check the update thread for the server app?

Where can we check the update thread for the server app?

You can see release note for each version here.  As for server update the scheduled task will automatically pick them up.

Thanks for all the answers. I'm a new user and some questions will show up. Like this one:

I have some movies which I believe were no scraped correctly. Because they are showing a colored poster. Like orange or full green, etc, etc. Problem is, I cannot open them in order to "identify" them with any of the provided solutions (imdb, RT, themoviesdb, etc). Wierd?

Ive tried refreshing and nothing happens as well. With other movies which are also badly scraped but add some backdrop to the poster, I am able to open and identify them.

You need screenshots to understand what Im talking about?

What do you mean by can't open?

Posted

It wasnt opening the movie page, where we see cast bla bla. And where we can identify the movie when its not correctly scrapped. Now with the server update it opens and I can even right click to pop contextual menus where I previously couldnt (server update?) but I realized  that it's was opening because the file isnt there...the folder is...lol. Sorry.
