prince_s 0 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 (edited) Hi, I am pretty new to MB3 I have my library created and most shows are correctly being found when refreshing metadata. However, I have a few shows that it just won't find. I have ensured that the naming convention in the library exactly matches either themoviedb.org or thetvdb.com but the system just won't find the titles. I have confirmed that the titles exist on one of these sites. Some Examples are: 2 Broke Girls Arrow In a couple of cases I was able to manually add the id from these sites into the External Id's Section and then it would find the show. However, in these cases, the External Id's Section is empty and thus I cannot add manually? What am I doing wrong? What should I Try Next?? Thanks Shane Edited January 15, 2014 by prince_s
Tikuf 663 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Not sure I know what you mean by it is empty and therefore you cannot add it if you paste it into the empty spot and click save it does not work?
ebr 16169 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 If you can't edit those fields it means those items are not being recognized as series most likely. Be sure they conform to the proper folder structure. Is there a season folder in them? Is there a series.xml in them? Be sure there isn't a movie.xml in them. 1
Kelmino 17 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Yeah, I've only had the empty fields if there is not a season folder in the tv series. I lay my folders out like this. Show name (Folder) --Season 1 (Folder) ---ShownameS01E01.avi (File not a folder) ---ShownameS01E02.avi (File not a folder) --Season 2 (Folder) ---ShownameS02E01.avi (File not a folder) ---ShownameS02E02.avi (File not a folder) You could also just throw a file in one of the season folders name S01E01.avi and it will pick up the rest from there. If that makes any sense. That's all you need in there, no other xml or whatever as long as it's laid out like that then mediabrowser should see it without a problem.
Luke 42077 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 season folders aren't mandatory. episodes can be directly in the series folder as long as they're following episode file naming conventions
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 You can try pulling the initial information with a tool like Media Center Master or manually edit the XML file to set the ID from the metadata source.
ebr 16169 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 season folders aren't mandatory. episodes can be directly in the series folder as long as they're following episode file naming conventions Correct, but if you don't have any episodes, the easiest way to get the server to recognize a series is by simply creating a season folder. Perhaps, if the media folder type is set to "TV" then any folder with no sub-folders should be resolved as a series...?
cpttango30 4 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I don't use Media Browser for metadata. I use Media Center Master. http://mediacentermaster.com/ With that program I download or rip into my unsorted media folder. Once complete and no more seeding or ripping I just open mcm and click Process New downloads. Once you have all your folders set up it will move tv shows to proper folders get metadata and do the same for movies as well. It will also rename your newly downloaded content to the proper naming convention that you choose. When I am adding new tv shows to my tv folder I go in and create the series folder then create all the seasons I want or have. Like I just did Smallville. So in my TV folder I made a folder named Smallville then in it I created all 10 season folders. I then head back to MCM and do a initial metadata fetch. Then once I get an episode or a season done I manually move it and refectch metadata. After that I just hit process new downloads and it moves, renames and fetches metadata for all new episodes in the series.
sicofthis 0 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) I have the same problem, If MB3 finds the wrong movie then no problem. I can just change the id number on the imdb or themovedb or whatever. If it does not find anything no sites are listed under external id just a +/- that does nothing. There are no fields availabe to put an id into. Edited February 2, 2014 by sicofthis
Luke 42077 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 I have the same problem, If MB3 finds the wrong movie then no problem. I can just change the id number on the imdb or themovedb or whatever. If it does not find anything no sites are listed under external id just a +/- that does nothing. There are no fields availabe to put an id into. That's not true. If the external id fields aren't listed, then that means we didn't recognize it as the type you expected. Movie fields only show for something we consider a movie, same for tv and so on. So that generally points to folder structure not matching supported guidelines.
trusselo 225 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 ensure your TV show/ Movie folder is named exactly as it appears on themoviedb.org or thetvdb.com it took a while for me to get used to it but it is best to include the (YEAR), just ignore any special characters like ; : eg: M:\Movies\American History X (1998)\American History X (1998).avi E:\TV\10 Million Dollar Bigfoot Bounty (2013)\Season 1\10 Million Dollar Bigfoot Bounty.S01E01.Bigfoot's Blood.mkv
