Live TV Direct Play

Hey all,

 

I am unable to get Live TV working via Direct Play to Fire TV gen 1. All I get is a spinning circle when trying to tune to a channel. I am using a Hauppage Tuner, WMC, and ServerWMC. Should this be possible with this setup? I am sure some log files are needed, just wasn't sure which.

Hi.  Please check out the Server WMC forum.  I'm pretty sure there is a setting you need to configure to get direct play working.

 

If you turn off the Direct Stream option in the app, does it play then?

Yep, if I turn off the Direct Play option in the Fire TV app, it will play via transcoding. Unfortunately the video is choppy, and the audio and video gradually get out of sync. Hoping that I can just get Direct Play working and not worry about troubleshooting that!

Make sure you have vlc installed and checked as well on the firetv.

For our internal video player you don't need to install that. Or are you talking about external player playback?

I'm probably not using the correct terms but I thought vlc was an external player option which is what wound up fixing most of my problems.  You could see the streaming shift to direct play as vlc installed.

He already solved this issue through a combination of working with us and the Server WMC dev.
