Basic Auth support in reverse proxy scenario

I'm using Emby behind a reverse nginx proxy. Nginx does all my SSL and proxy_passes to local port 8096. I'm using basic auth in nginx as a "first line of defense". It would be extremely helpful to have support for that in the android app as part of the server connection set-up. Is it possible?

This looks interesting, I run HAproxy as my reverse proxy. I am hoping to setup client certificates. My hope is that it is more seamless to the end user and follows one the premises of multi-factor authentication that you should use more than 1 type of authentication.
