UWP App doesn't like & in user names

My login to my Emby server has an & but the app shows this as "+%26+"

 

If I try and login using this code it fails and if I change it to an & it also fails.

Not sure what changes but now I can login if I change it to an & but it still always defaults to +%26+

Not sure how you were able to create a user id with an "&" ?  

 

From the server.

 

"Usernames can contain letters (a-z), numbers (0-9), dashes (-), underscores (_), apostrophes ('), and periods (.)"

It's been like that since year0 so maybe I created it before there was a programmatic check!

 

Maybe I should change it?!

Changed it now, never noticed that restriction before as I set up all my users years ago and never been in that section since!

 

I wonder if that helps with other UWP app issues.

OK Well after changing the & to a <space>and<space> it now shows in the app as +and+ which also fails the login.

 

Some addition code required in the login screen I think.

WhiteSpace isn't included as valid username

Seems odd it still allows you to rename the user to an unauthorised name in the settings.

 

Oh well, ugly underscores it is then.

I will look into this anyways. If the server allows it, then the app should.
