amotto11 2 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Hello all, I am trying to remotely connect to my Emby Server. I have done this in the past, but since I created a new server, i have been unable to connect remotely. When I turn off my wifi on my phone i am opening the mobile app. I enter my username and password for Emby connect and it says "Invalid username or password", so i try to connect manually. I enter my IP address that shows up in my dashboard for remote access with my port and that doesn't work either. I cannot seem to connect to my server any way i try. I have set up emby connect on my server under all of my users. I have restarted my server multiple time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
ebr 16185 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 I enter my username and password for Emby connect and it says "Invalid username or password" Exactly where are you entering this? You don't use this inside the app itself. You use this to complete the PIN connection process at emby.media/pin. If you are being presented with a user login screen in the app, you must've already connected to a server...
RanmaCanada 496 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 (edited) I can't even enter my login on my own computer. Something is broken. I am on my computer, trying to login to my server that is on my computer, and I can't!! I can login on my phone to manage my server, but it is not accepting my username and password on my windows 10 computer. Edit: I have tried to login my server with several of my users accounts and every single one says incorrect username or password. 3.1.6079.22614 is the version I am running.I can access the server on my phone, and devices can sign in and access content, but I can not do a single thing on windows to access my server. log file attatched I just tried accessing my server from my phone, with the emby app, and when I was in dashboard everything worked fine, but as soon as I hit my ip address to access the server locally, it came to the user screen and refused to let me login. server-63607561782.txt Edited August 23, 2016 by RanmaCanada
amotto11 2 Posted August 23, 2016 Author Posted August 23, 2016 RanmaCanada, could you start your own post. I am able to login via local, but i cannot login remotely. ebr, here are my steps: 1.) turn off wifi 2.) go into emby app 3.) click next 4.) the screen says "Sign in with Emby Connect" i enter my user and password, that i know are correct and it says they are invalid. 5.) since can't login, i hit skip to connect to server manually 6.) click add server 7.) enter my host (i have tried my remote ip, local ip, and my server name) and then put in my port. It says we are unable to connect right now.
Happy2Play 9782 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 4.) the screen says "Sign in with Emby Connect" i enter my user and password, that i know are correct and it says they are invalid. You are entering your forum username and password correct?
amotto11 2 Posted August 23, 2016 Author Posted August 23, 2016 (edited) Happy, Yes I am entering my user and password I am using for this site. I also am trying to access my server remotely on a roku in another house, which I did successfully a few months ago before I changed servers.. I enter the app, it says a pin. I login and enter the pin from the computer, that works. So I know that I am logging in correctly. Then it asks for the server, I click add server and I have tried the server name, the local ip address and the remote address. Nothing seems to work. Edit: at the top of this forum there is an emby connect button. When I am on wifi in my house, I am able to login, but not remotely. Edited August 23, 2016 by amotto11
Happy2Play 9782 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 I wonder if you are having an IPv6 issue? Is your external address showing ipv4 or v6 address?
amotto11 2 Posted August 23, 2016 Author Posted August 23, 2016 That very well could be, a few days ago I got a new modem and service. How do I know which it is? I believe it is v6. When I run if config on my Ubuntu server it says my local address, the mask, then 9 lines starting with inet6 addr
Happy2Play 9782 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Sorry I am a Windows guy but from what I see you are on a ipv6 address.
amotto11 2 Posted August 23, 2016 Author Posted August 23, 2016 So how do I check on a Windows machine? Also, is there a problem with IPv6?
Happy2Play 9782 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 There are mixed results across the forum. Network and Sharing Center-Local Area Connections-Details or command prompt - ipconfig /all
amotto11 2 Posted August 23, 2016 Author Posted August 23, 2016 (edited) Does IPV4 work for certain, and IPv6 just mixed results? Edited August 23, 2016 by amotto11
amotto11 2 Posted August 24, 2016 Author Posted August 24, 2016 My remote IP address is IPv4 I think because emby says it is in this format. XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX.
Happy2Play 9782 Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Also does canyouseeme.org show the port is open.
amotto11 2 Posted August 24, 2016 Author Posted August 24, 2016 well, we might have found the problem. Before i post the log, canyouseeme.org says port 8096 "Error: I could not see your service on XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX on port (8096)". let me know if you still want me to post my log.
amotto11 2 Posted August 24, 2016 Author Posted August 24, 2016 do you know what i can do to open the port?
amotto11 2 Posted August 24, 2016 Author Posted August 24, 2016 I think i may have got it. I opened the port on my router and now the website says success. I will report back here if it works or doesn't.
Solution amotto11 2 Posted August 24, 2016 Author Solution Posted August 24, 2016 Happy, I got it to work on the roku in the other home, so everything is all set. Thank you very much for your help. Just for anyone else later down the road, I had to open the port on my router that emby is using to fix my problem. 1
