Need some Advice Nvidia GPU Transcode

So, the only card that my server officially supports is this one:  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133485

 

It supports 6 transcode streams....     I say my server supports, because ANY drive, ram, or accessory card that i put in it has to be supported or they run the fans up to 100% no way around it..    I've tried trust me.. It's to force you to purchase their hardware.

 

  SO  on the topic of GPU transcode only...    Is it worth it to spend 300 or so bucks (ebay) on this card for six streams?   Pros/cons?    More interested in the CONS, what happens to the 7th stream attempt?   I have a beefy CPU so I don't really "NEED" this but if it does the below, it might be worth it for me...

 

1. offload cpu transcode to GPU

2. at 7th stream, smart enough to switch to using the CPU 

3. perform better than my CPU
