Primary picture only from online source

Hi there,

my media folder gets automatically movies from a source where often a movie.jpg cover is included (every movie in a specific folder). Emby is using this picture as primary picture in the library. Unfortunately these pictures have only a very small resolution and it looks terrible on the screen.

If no picture is included in the movie folder emby is using an online source like TheMovieDb.

Is it possible to force the download of primary pictures from online sources? Or to deactivate the automatic use of local pictures?

Thanks in advance

The server is coded with a order of precedence for images.  I believe moviename, poster, then folder.  There is no way to deactivate local pictures, as for force download well yes if you do a library refresh and replace images but that is all images.  Depending on how many movies your talking about updating you could use the multi-select option and select just the movies that need updating (hold left click on a movie will open multi-select option).

This answer I was afraid of :-)

Is there a way to hide jpg in the linux file system in a specific order structure?

Most people want the local image to be used. Right now you would have to delete or rename the image.

May I suggest to make this dependant of the already existing setting "store images and metadaata in medi adirectories"

If it is unchecked, internet data should be preferred, loaded and used, if it is checked, local data should be preferred and used.

I for my part also do not want to use local images, as this significanty slows down browsing, because media is on a NAS and harddisks are sleeping / spun down. So I prefer the server to load the (internetloaded) data from the metadata directory (or cache directory)

Makes sense!?

If you don't have images there then you don't need the setting.
