Sammy 790 Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 (edited) I love Emby but have had and continue to have issues with the sync process. It either doesn't of does it poorly. I've noticed that Emby in general and sync in particular use a lot of space on my boot SSD. Is there a way to change this or have it go to another drive but of course I would then start to clog up my Recorded TV drive. Any solution to this? I also notice that this fills up the internal device drive on my Galaxy phone and Tablet. Please help and TIA! Edited August 17, 2016 by Sammy
Luke 42085 Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 It will only sync what you tell it to sync. if you want to reduce the storage used by sync, then remove sync jobs.
Sammy 790 Posted August 16, 2016 Author Posted August 16, 2016 Can the path for the sync jobs be changed so my (relatively) small 240Gb SSD isn't adversely affected? I'd also like to direct it to the external SD on the device end for the same reason, the 16Gb internal memory on the Galaxy 8.4 Tablet gets saturated too.
Luke 42085 Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Have you explored settings on both ends? I could just as easily give you the answers, but in order to improve the system for everyone else I need to understand what has prevented you from locating the way to control this. You didn't come in here asking a question, you came in here thinking there was a problem, and we need to prevent that from happening again. Thanks. To answer the questions though, see server dashboard -> sync settings, and also in-app sync settings.
Sammy 790 Posted August 17, 2016 Author Posted August 17, 2016 I'm sorry if I'm being a pain but this information is not discussed in the wiki on syncing.. I am wondering if I need to specify a directory under "Temporary path file" here on the server side?
ebr 16195 Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Yes, you would. Does the description of that field not convey that well enough?
Sammy 790 Posted August 17, 2016 Author Posted August 17, 2016 I suppose it does but not knowing all the innards of how emby performs the syncing, I didn't know that it needed to have a location for temporary files until just now because I am looking to see what things were clogging up my SSD and how to prevent them from doing that. Does Emby delete these files when done? I still need to look into the client side to see what is going on there and how to put these file on the external SD card and not the internal memory. Again, thanks for your help.
