Angelblue05 4132 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) So there's no way to get this done without strms at this time? No way to add a custom field that would represent the dynamic url (with manual intervention) for http playback At this time, kodi doesn't support dynamic urls - it's on the list of things to do. Luke 42078 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Maybe in the future? What exactly are you asking? Are you asking if there's something in the server today, or are you asking if I'll immediately start looking into it? There is nothing in the server today to change the api behavior if that is what you're asking. It was always my understanding that since Kodi had native strm support you were just playing via that.
Angelblue05 4132 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) Ok, I will try to be clearer. Sorry. As you are aware, the strm file support is limited server side (there's no runtime so the watch status is buggy, the only way it works to mark something as watched is to manually mark is as watched - the 90% played has no effect) - but this is not important to this thread. It's just a bad side effect of using strm files at this moment, no matter if Kodi supports it. What I'm asking is that it seems killride is using strm file ONLY because he wants to force the server to provide a dynamic url to content during playback, to avoid using his own bandwidth to provide content to remote users. Similar setup is already provided server side, using Google Drive, correct? He could use this instead right? And just forget about strm files. I'm just unsure how dynamic url works - I don't use it myself, but there's no way to not use google drive and use https://1fichier.com as a different upload site with manual intervention? Luke 42078 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 This is getting kind of complicated in here, so like anything, just make a feature request thread for what you're looking for and we'll evaluate based on community support.
killride 47 Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 Ok I'm gonna try to look into the source code if I find something and Im gonna make a feature request
Angelblue05 4132 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) @@killride Actually, couldn't you do the following: Add your content directly to your server - without strm files and make your own account only have access to those library. Make your remote user accounts look at the strm file libraries only. Then you get to enjoy everything working, while your users will keep the same setup (unfortunately, that means marking stuff as manually watched at this time - actually I have an idea that might work for this) Edited August 11, 2016 by Angelblue05
killride 47 Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 Yes this is what I'm going to do. Make a new file server for my remote users. Thanks for your time. 1
Angelblue05 4132 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) What I will add is a quick verification, if a strm file is playing - it will manually mark the file as watched, if it's + 90% played, instead of leaving it up to the server to mark the content as played, since it can't. This should resolve the situation, at least in Kodi. Edited August 11, 2016 by Angelblue05
killride 47 Posted August 12, 2016 Author Posted August 12, 2016 Ok thanks let me know if I have to do something. Cheers
killride 47 Posted August 12, 2016 Author Posted August 12, 2016 Is Emby for kodi plugin support Smb3?
Angelblue05 4132 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 It supports whatever Kodi supports. All the addon does is verify the existence of the file using the Kodi api. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
