Heuer 76 Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 When playing mpeg.ts SD recordings made by Next PVR i am seeing a green vertical line on the right hand side of the screen when using EATV on the Shield. The recordings play back perfectly in Theatre, Browser, EA, Plex, VLC for windows and with the VLC app on the Shield TV. I can play the recordings on my Nexus 6 and cast them to the Shield with no issues. This seems to be an issue with the EATV app. Any thoughts? All HD material (mkv's mostly), Youtube and BBC iPlayer play perfectly on the Shield so it is not the device. Here is a download link for one of the episodes that causes the problem: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8496016/American.Dad%21.S08E17.ts Video details of the file: Video ID : 3332 (0xD04) Menu ID : 10070 (0x2756) Format : MPEG Video Format version : Version 2 Format profile : Main@Main Format settings, BVOP : Yes Format settings, Matrix : Custom Format settings, GOP : M=3, N=18 Codec ID : 2 Duration : 36mn 59s Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 2 368 Kbps Maximum bit rate : 15.0 Mbps Width : 720 pixels Height : 576 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Active Format Description : Letterbox 16:9 image Frame rate : 25.000 fps Standard : PAL Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : Interlaced Scan order : Top Field First Compression mode : Lossy Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.228 Stream size : 626 MiB (84%)
ebr 16169 Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 This is a known problem with the version of vlc were using and interlaced content.
Heuer 76 Posted August 14, 2016 Author Posted August 14, 2016 Does that mean there will be a fix shortly?
ebr 16169 Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 The problem is it is a bug in VLC. I'm going to try changing the way we tell it to deinterlace with the next beta. I don't have any material with which I can reliably reproduce this problem so can you please try it with the next beta (will be .29) and let me know if it makes a difference?
Heuer 76 Posted August 16, 2016 Author Posted August 16, 2016 I put a Dropbox link to a sample .ts file especially for you in my first post. Download that and you have your test although obviously I will give it a go with the next beta. Green line appears onkly on SD content, HD content usually plays OK but I can provide you with as many samples as you need. 1
ebr 16169 Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Sorry, I glossed over the link. My attempted fix did not work. I'll have to try something else. Thanks.
ebr 16169 Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Okay, the next beta (.30) should get rid of the green line. I'm not positive it if will have an effect on quality of those items but I don't think so. I couldn't see anything anyway.
