tstk2013 0 Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 For some reason I cannot fast forward and resume the MKV file movies. The AVI file movies are working fine.
Luke 42080 Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Hi there, welcome. We're very sorry to hear about this. In order to best help you, please provide the info requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
tstk2013 0 Posted August 9, 2016 Author Posted August 9, 2016 Here are the logs, thanks for your help and your time. Server -logs.zip WMC - Logs.zip
Luke 42080 Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Hi, thanks for the logs. Can you also offer a little more discussion? What Emby app are you trying to play from? Thanks.
tstk2013 0 Posted August 9, 2016 Author Posted August 9, 2016 I am still using Windows 8.1 with Windows Media Player and Emby for WMC version 3.0.302.0. Thanks,
tstk2013 0 Posted August 9, 2016 Author Posted August 9, 2016 I have two PCs with same set and they both have the same issue.
tstk2013 0 Posted August 9, 2016 Author Posted August 9, 2016 I mean Windows 8.1 with Windows Media Center
Luke 42080 Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Ok, I would suggest installing LAV filters. Let me just tell you how things work with Emby for Windows Media Center because I'm sure your natural assumption is that there is something wrong with Emby here. But we are in fact just handing the video off to Windows Media Center and it is responsible for audio and video playback, so there's really nothing that Emby can do to influence your ability to fast forward and resume. The reason I'm suggesting LAV filters is because it will increase the capabilities of Windows Media Player which may help with this issue. Alternatively, you might consider taking a look at Emby Theater: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/blog/1/entry-290-introducing-the-new-emby-theater-for-windows-and-the-web/
tstk2013 0 Posted August 9, 2016 Author Posted August 9, 2016 I already have Shark007 installed. I reason I still using WMC because I watch and record TV show by using WMC. Do you have any idea what LAV filters I should install? Thanks,
Luke 42080 Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Well, this will probably conflict with shark. it's been a few years since i have dealt with these. someone like @@Ian-Highlander or @@pr3dict might have more up to date tips and tricks. If it were me I would drop shark and install all of LAV, but I don't want to send you down a path that might negatively affect the rest of your system. 1
Guest asrequested Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 If it were me I would drop shark and install all of LAV, but I don't want to send you down a path that might negatively affect the rest of your system. I agree with Luke. I believe LAV would be an improvement over Shark, especially if you're playing HEVC files. I don't think it would be a problem if you uninstalled shark and installed LAV. You could install both and use the codectweaktool (if you feel confident enough) to select which plays what.
Ian-Highlander 147 Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 (edited) Well, this will probably conflict with shark. it's been a few years since i have dealt with these. someone like @@Ian-Highlander or @@pr3dict might have more up to date tips and tricks. If it were me I would drop shark and install all of LAV, but I don't want to send you down a path that might negatively affect the rest of your system. Although a default LAV installation seems to be the favoured method on here by most people, I've used Shark's codecs on all my media centers for years and never had a problem playing anything I throw at them. I'm currently running two Windows 10 PCs with version 11 of the WMC "hack" and Emby for WMC as well as using WMC's live and recording TV functionality with PCI-E tuner cards and all with Sharks codecs installed. I posted some screenshots of my Shark settings a while back here http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/31127-windows-10-media-center-crashes-not-responding-after-playing-mor-ethan-one-file/&do=findComment&comment=301113 these settings allow me to play anything I've tried successfully and never noticed any issues with FF or RWD. If you do go down the road of using Shark's codecs, just be a little careful installing them as it tries to get you to install a couple of bits of crap at the beginning of the installer that you don't need. Filippus 0 Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Some movies and episodes just doesn't work playing, I navigate to the file, press play and then an error pops up saying: "Video Error There was an error playing the video." and then a OK button. And regardless how many times you try it doesn't work, if you rescan it still doesn't work on those specific movies mind you, at all. tstk2013 0 Posted August 25, 2016 Author Posted August 25, 2016 I don't think Shark007 cause the issue. I have two PCs with the same setup working fine so far but after the update last month I cannot fast forward the mkv video file. I tried what you recommended but it still have the same issue. I found the file Media Browser version (MCE_MediaBrowser2_6_2) and installed. It works fine, I can fast forward while watching the mkv video files. I would like to test the old Emby version about 3 months old (3 months ago) if you have it. If possible, love to have both version server and for workstation with Windows Media Center old version. English is my second language, if you confuse about my writing, please forgive me Thank you very much for your help.
Luke 42080 Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 The last Emby for WMC release is 2 months old. Is that close enough? Looking at the changes over the last several months it appears to be mostly related to weather. @@ebr can elaborate. Let me just tell you how things work with Emby for Windows Media Center because I'm sure your natural assumption is that there is something wrong with Emby here. ebr 16185 Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 If you are having playback issues like that, more than likely, it is a path access problem causing the EMC to stream through the server instead of play the item directly.
