Transcoding Only as a Last Option

Hi guys,

 

Is there any way to set up the Fire TV Emby app so that it only transcodes as a last option? For most of my big media I'll have multiple audio tracks. Can the Emby app go through the audio tracks to find one it doesn't need to transcode?

 

When watching myself I'll use the HTPC/ET but for the kids I'm happy for a "lesser" audio track.

It already prefers direct to transcoding whenever possible.  For audio selection, it will use the audio preference settings in conjunction with the flags on the tracks themselves.  It will also remember your selection from last playback so, if you change it, it will select that track again next time.

OK so it will try direct first, thanks. When it comes across a DTS or HD audio track for the first time will it attempt to transcode unless I manually set something on the server?

Whether it has to transcode depends on a lot of variables including the settings in the app (there are options to allow bitstreaming of DTS/DD).
