Jureious 0 Posted August 9, 2016 Author Posted August 9, 2016 I have done this before and generally there are two methods for this: 1. Using Ubuntu Live CD with chntpw. This is a bit tricky as you need to burn a bootable Ubuntu and download chntpw. this involves command prompts later. So it is a good solution if you knew some basic linux command. 2. Using password reset disk. This will be much easier. Download and burn programs (like UUkeys, Ophcrack ) to USB drive and insert it to the locked computer. When the disk being loaded, there is GUI interface and you can reset whatever account on that computer. I use Chntpw to remove my windows 8 user password, but when I reboot my computer to the logon screen, and get into windows without password, it still rejects me with the message “The user name or the password is incorrect” I have tried many times, but the results keep the same. How about UUkeys windows password recovery ? how to use it to reset my Windows 8 password.

Then clear it after logging in.

Luke 42077 Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Hi, welcome ! Have you tried clicking forgot password on the login screen of the web app?
the-dumb1 135 Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 So you're asking about the Windows administrator account. Has nothing to do with Emby and I'm not sure if it's okay for us to discuss hacking/bypassing the password?
Luke 42077 Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Sorry my mistake, didn't realize it's about Windows.

swhitmore 781 Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Pretty sure this is a spam bot. The user posted a solution in the other thread about this. I'll merge it with the that one for now. 1

Wankerty 0 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 (edited) If you have another user account which has admin privileges, you can easily unlock Windows 8 password by using "lusrmgr.msc" or "Command". Let's see how to unlock Windows 8 password with "lusrmgr.msc" and draw inferences about other cases from one instance to unlock Windows 8 password. 1. Login Windows 8 as administrator. Click on Start, type lusrmgr.msc in the Search Box or Run Box(press both Win+R keys to open Run Box), click OK button. 2. Local Users and Groups dialog appears, open Users folder. Right-click an user account and select "Set Password". 3. When a dialog pops up, type a new password twice, type a password hint or not, click OK. Note: This method will lead to lose access to all its encrypted files, stored passwords, and personal security certificates. if it still not works, try Tunesbro wingeeker program to reset your windows 8 password, you need to prepare USB or DVD and another working computer. Famsent 0 Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 (edited) There is no need of any 3rd party software to recover the password for Windows 8,if you have other user accounts on your computer. Otherwise, I would suggest you try some 3rd party software, after all, sometimes they are very helpful. For example: https://karanpc.com/kon-boot-download-101/ https://www.winpwd.com/ http://www.tucows.com/preview/391886/LCP Edited July 15, 2019 by Famsent
