Hi I have recently been having issues with my Kids Tv Shows and it appears to be permissions related. I first noticed that lots of shows were not visible in Kodi. When I checked the Emby Android App the show posters were visible and the season posters but when I drilled down to see the episodes there was nothing there.

I checked the main user (full permissions) and everything was fine so I checked the permissions. The Kids profile is set to only allow GB-U so I checked the metadata information. It all looked fine. The "parental rating" was set to TV-Y but the custom rating is set to GB-U the episodes also had the parental rating of TV-Y but had nothing for custom which i'm told is correct as the top level should propagate down through the episodes.

I then did a refresh on the show and everything returned to normal so I refreshed all the affected tv shows which seemed to fix the issue temporarily. This is happening each day now though as the shows vanish again and i'm having to go in and keep refreshing them? Last night I refreshed them again and unticked parental rating under enabled fields hoping that would stop this issue (although i'd previously been told custom fields are not affected by a refresh anyway) but the issue has re-occurred today.

Am I missing something? This never used to be an issue but is now a daily occurrence........ Only tv shows appear to be affected by this the Movies seem fine.

Hi, welcome, thanks for the report. Can you walk me through the daily process that you're mentioning so that i can try to recreate it myself and then hunt down the issue? thanks!

Hi Luke, thanks for replying:

Yes i'm looking at this at the moment. After the change last night I thought i'd check to see if the issue was resolved so I logged into the Kids profile on the Android app. The show was visible as was the seasons poster but when I clicked on each season no episodes are present.

I then went into metadata manager and did a refresh on the tv show, waited a minute and checked in the app again. All episodes are now available and can be played. This has happened to the other shows as well?

Thanks

And you're saying eventually as in later in the day, it clears itself up and hides as expected?

Hi, sorry for the delayed response, I wanted to be certain of a few things first.

Ok at the moment Kodi is still showing all the shows and episodes in the kids profile but the android app still does not show the episodes. The show and seasons are present but zero episodes are available. This is also true in the web client. I'm not sure why Kodi is still ok but eventually I think they will disappear again.

i thought you wanted them to be hidden?

No they are meant to be there. They are tv shows with a custom rating of gb-u which should be available in the kids profile.

For some reason you can't see the episodes. If you refresh them they appear as they should but then the next day the episodes are not visible again until you do another refresh.....

Maybe that isn't related to parental controls. If you remove the parental restriction from the kids profile, does that issue still occur?

I'll disable it today and let you know how it goes.

Hi, tested this and it is definitely the permissions.

Once I changed them from gb-u to allow everything the episodes appeared. I then changed it back to gb-u and they vanished again. I then refreshed the metadata on the tv show and the episodes have appeared again. Later today I expect the episodes will not be accessible.......

can you shut down the server, go under the server's data folder and zip up the library.db file. then, later today when the episode disappears, please do the same thing again. then please attach both databases and i'll compare.

what i'm going to be comparing is the parental rating and custom rating of the series, an example episode, and it's season container before and afterwards. so if you see any of those values change on your own then you can skip attaching the databases and we can move onto looking at why they're changing. if you don't see anything change, then it's probably something in the database that i'll need to look at. thanks.

No problem, i've zipped up the database as it currently is (metadata refreshed and episodes visible). Once they vanish i'll repeat, where am I sending them too?

Hi, the episodes have vanished again. I've zipped up the database. How am I sending them to you?

You can attach them here or upload to something like dropbox and PM me the links. Thanks.

To big to post here, I'll dropbox them and send you the link

hi, what is an example series that is not displaying episodes?

D'oh sorry forgot about that. Please compare "Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom". Many thanks.

Can you try the beta server and let me know if it is resolved? thanks.

I guess so, would it need to be setup from scratch or does it overwrite the current installation? Was anything evident in the database?

Posted

yes i found something. you can just install on top of your existing install. thanks.

Ok, i've downloaded Emby from the Beta Channel and installed it (version 3.1.98.0). I'll test and let you know how it goes.

Hi, no issues at all since I installed the beta. Thanks for all your help with this ☺

Thanks. No issues meaning this can be considered resolved now?
