Dropbox or google drive or something like that would be great, thanks.

@@Luke that's seems to be always the same issue unfortunately.

Its exactly the same behavior with my thread where I mentioned like @@Tewkster, when it's happening, everytime it's when the transcode stuff is finished. During the last 3% of the video, emby goes in a 'direct play' something like that. And it's during this second of the new state, we got a black screen.

@@Tewkster, did you have subtitles enabled when this issue happened?

NB: as said here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/65187-playback-is-stopping-near-the-end-of-a-media-file/page-1&do=findComment&comment=760608

It's seems to lose the position. Difference between emby server Admin dashboard, and the value in the browser during the blackscreen.

Maybe you should try to see if it's during the changement between transcode and direct play that the position is lost?

Just an idea like that. Hopping this can help

Just a note that the episode was using transcoding and stopped as soon as the transcode buffer reached %100.  It seems to be an intermittent issue since it doesn't always occur.

This episode remuxed and transcoded to the end with and without HWA for me.

I did not have any subtitles.

Thanks, I'm downloading this now. What browser and version did you test with?

Chrome (Version 75.0.3770.100)

Emby (Version 4.1.1.0)

Using your sample file, i was able to play to the end successfully using the upcoming Emby Server 4.2 release, which already has changes to address this. Thanks.

I've been having reports of this for months, with various shows, from my handful of close friends.

I keep replacing the episodes, but I'm going insane, it's like whack a mole.

It's not a specific release group, it's not a specific format, it's happening on multiple shows, multiple seasons/episodes.

ALL of my content going out is transcoded because I store everything in H265 and almost nothing supports it.

I'm on the emby/embyserver:beta docker image, using hardware transcode on a dedicated GTX 1650 Super.

Clients are Android phones, Laptop, Desktop, Samsung Smart TV, AppleTV, Roku -- we've tried everything.

I keep hearing, over and over again, the episode stops ~5min before the end; Emby marks it as Played so it's a pain in the ass to go back and find it; it happened on every episode in season X; etm etm etm....

I love hearing earlier that it was an HLS/prediction issue, that sounds SUPER like what I'm running into. PLEASE let me help you fix this, I am desperate. I'm more than experienced enough to help. I can send/share an impacted file somehow, after some conversation and verification I -might- be willing to give access to my server to an Emby dev. I can find logs -- I had to flush the folder because it was unreasonably large, but I'll beg for consistent issue reports if it'll help solve this.

I guess a temporary work around would be adjusting Resume setting per library.

But issues 5 years ago are not the same as now and probably needs split into its own topic.

I love support forums. If you search first, you get complaints for not starting your own thread. If you start your own thread, you get complaints that you didn't search first. Definitely don't quote the NEXT SENTENCE of my message where I tie its presence here directly to this thread; it won't support your argument. Good call. The fact that this issue sounds super related to the other one definitely feels like it would justify piggybacking the entire symptom and troubleshooting process to refresh anyone's memory. If I'm correct and this is a consistent bug, they'll see this topic re-emerge and go "that might be relevant to what I'm looking into" or some similar thought process.

If a developer believes this is a separate/new issue and requests a new thread with logs and more information, I'll do it. If a developer fails to notice an old issue/topic re-emerging, that's unfortunate but it sounds like they wouldn't have time for the rest of it anyway.

To be clear, I'm not seeking help. I'm offering help. This IS a bug, it IS in Emby and not anything to do with my setup. Surface support won't help. An experienced user won't be able to find some setting I've missed. This is an Emby issue, and I am presenting a diagnostic surface for a developer to approach. I'm extending an offer for a working relationship. That's why I framed it as an extension of the most relevant conversation which took place that I can find; it's likely related.

Hi, can we please look at a specific example? Thanks.

In which way would you like to look at this example? Do you need a source file exhibiting the issue? (Apologies for erratic delays, real life got bumpy and will be for a little bit, please bear with me, I'll try to be timely.)

@DaninFuchs

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
