jupiter 0 Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 (edited) I installed emby on a fresh load of Fedora Server 24 by adding the stable repo, and running sudo dnf install emby-server. emby-server will not start. Cockpit provides the following information. 08:19 emby-server.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'. systemd 08:19 emby-server.service: Unit entered failed state. systemd 08:19 emby-server.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE systemd 08:19 /usr/lib/emby-server/emby-server.sh: line 107: /var/log/emby-server.log: Permission denied emby-server.sh 08:19 Started Emby Media Server. systemd 08:17 emby-server.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'. systemd 08:17 emby-server.service: Unit entered failed state. systemd 08:17 emby-server.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE systemd 08:17 /usr/lib/emby-server/emby-server.sh: line 107: /var/log/emby-server.log: Permission denied emby-server.sh 08:17 Started Emby Media Server. systemd I searched the forum for the emby log directory and found that it is supposed to be located in /share. I do not have a /share directory. ps -ef |grep emby-server indicates. root 4649 4617 0 Jul30 ? 00:00:00 journalctl -q --output=json --lines=10 --follow -- _SYSTEMD_UNIT=emby-server.service + COREDUMP_UNIT=emby-server.service + UNIT=emby-server.serviceuser 5373 1314 0 09:17 pts/1 00:00:00 grep --color=auto emby-server journalctl -f Jul 31 09:33:14 mediaserver systemd[1]: emby-server.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE Jul 31 09:33:14 mediaserver systemd[1]: emby-server.service: Unit entered failed state. Package emby-server-3.0.6020-52.1.x86_64 is already installed, skipping. Dependencies resolved. Nothing to do. Complete! Where are the emby logs located in fedora, or is there a journalctl command to view emby logs? Edited July 31, 2016 by jupiter
fc7 123 Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 You need to create a SELinux policy or set SELinux to permissive mode. Search the forum since there is a recent thread about it. This problems seems to only affect F24 tough. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
jupiter 0 Posted July 31, 2016 Author Posted July 31, 2016 Thanks. For future users with this problem. Here are the commands for setting permissive. sudo setenforce 0 sudo getenforce Permissive This is fine on a Lan, but if you plan on running anything open, then a profile should be created. This is the forum post I found with the most information. http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/13398-fedoracentos-rpm/page-13?hl=%2Bselinux+%2Bpolicy&do=findComment&comment=340572
