Just want to get something straight before I buy GPU.

I read trough a bunch posts here on the community tracker, and also watched some YouTube videos in GPUs.

 

But, I am still unsure if I grasp it all.

 

I have an Intel i3 chip which will use QuickSync.

 

I only ever remote log into my server, and it only has one purpose, to use Emby.

 

If I purchase a new graphics card, slap it into my server, will it off load some of the transcoding onto its processor?

I don't think so, but I could be wrong. I think it mainly falls on your CPU processing power. I have an old intel i3 2100, seems to do just fine when transcoding from home to work... Although I have it set very low due to work T1 line.

I'm pretty sure QuickSync only works with your integrated graphics chip so adding an external card is not going to affect that at all.
