Kerwood 0 Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 I want to convert my media so that my iOS devices can stream via the Emby app using direct streaming, so that my server does not need to transcode. I'm using ffmpeg and I am having some trouble finding the correct parameters for the conversion. I cant seem to find a specific list of what the Emby can stream directly without transcoding. Any one else has any experience with this ?
mediacowboy 438 Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 I use handbrake and then the settings from here, http://www.rokoding.com/guides.html#sthash.FcCv7qQv.dpbs. Yes they are for Roku's but it direct streams to my iPhone. Even Blu-ray when in network.
ebr 16169 Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 For Apple devices it pretty much needs to be h264 in an mp4 container. Audio will depend on the device but AAC to be safe.
Luke 42077 Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 m4v is fine too but if you're already converting then mp4 is the way to go.
legallink 187 Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 As a tip, if you are converting with multiple audio track formats, make sure that AAC is the first one.
