Ponyo 22 Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 (edited) Hi, I decided to important my music collection into Emby but music scanning is failing miserably. My tags are fine because my phone doesn't have any problems recognizing everthing but Emby is making a royal mess of things. First of all it seems having artists tagged as "porcupine tree" doesn't work. Needs to be in capitals "Porcupine Tree". Albums don't get recognized either unless the artist is tagged with capitals. When a album does get recognized whether it shows up under albums is completely random. Some albums show up there, some don't. The ones that don't do show up under folders along with names and all... I need to remove and create a new library if I want to update anything. Nothing gets scanned automatically even with monitoring turned to real time. Albums with more than 1 disk is a total disaster. Sometimes it works, sometimes I get weird things like cd 7 and 9... sometimes is just shows only the first disk. Kodi plugin completely broke down as far as music is concerned. Latest version. Deathsquirrel 745 Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 (edited) If you haven't already, run your music through a tool like MP3Tag. Make sure the Artist, Album, and Album Artist tags are all filled in. The spellings should be consistent for the same data and every track should have the relevant info. For example, you may have albums from 'Smashing Pumpkins' and 'The Smashing Pumpkins'. Pick one For multi-disc sets make sure the discnumber and track fields are correct. Every issue I've ever had with music boiled down to errors in my embedded metadata. Edited July 14, 2016 by Deathsquirrel
Luke 42085 Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 ^ Yes great advice. If you still have issues after that, pick one and let's look at a specific example in detail. Thanks.
Ian-Highlander 147 Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 I re-tagged my entire collection (64,000 odd mp3s) with Musicbrainz Picard. Did take me weeks to do it to my satisfaction as I did it an artist at a time to ensure accuracy. However, once done, Emby imported it all first time. 2
Ponyo 22 Posted July 15, 2016 Author Posted July 15, 2016 (edited) I did tag everything using mp3tag but it seems Emby doesn't play nice when you don't have capitols in your artist names. After changing the tags to ie Porcupine Tree it gets recognized by Emby. But somehow the Kodi plugin is broken because nothing gets updated without a full library resync. Another weird thing is that on rebooting Kodi now shows the scanning for content message while before it didn't. I didn't change anything to Emby or Kodi... Edit: Emby isn't generating a music library image either btw. For whatever reason it picked images from movie actors. Edited July 15, 2016 by Ponyo
Happy2Play 9783 Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 (edited) OT: If you delete that initial library image does a proper one get generated? I have seen this issue lately when adding a Library the first image applied is just random images from somewhere that don't apply, I have seen actors be applied also. @@Luke Example adding a Kids Movies Library with only the movie 9 (2009) [Animation] in it produce this image. Ponyo 22 Posted July 16, 2016 Author Posted July 16, 2016 (edited) Removing the initial image doesn't generate a new one. Edit: adding a custom image and then removing the custom image does generate a new image. Edited July 16, 2016 by Ponyo
