itsmynewname 0 Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Hi guys this is my first attempt at using emby having only used plex and i must say i really like the look of it. Heres where i am stuck, i have installed emby to my server via ssh and its started . The server is hosted in a a data center also, so i can only use ssh to send commands etc. Now that its installed i cannot get my browser to connect. Do i need to open a tunnel via putty prior to trying to conect my browser to the emby on my server? Please could someone helpas this is driving me crazy, ive spent hours trawling the web for an answer and simply cannot find one.
Luke 42077 Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Well if you were on the same machine you would access it via http://localhost:8096 It sounds like you are not on the same machine and the setup sounds somewhat complex. I think you're probably going to have to research what you'll have to configure in order to allow a web application to be accessible externally.
itsmynewname 0 Posted July 12, 2016 Author Posted July 12, 2016 Yes it's s different machine, with Plex you would create a tunnel via ssh, using ipaddress:32400 Is emby not the same? Thanks for taking an interest also!!
itsmynewname 0 Posted July 12, 2016 Author Posted July 12, 2016 No it wouldn't connect the web browser for some reason. I'm hoping someone will read this that has already had success in doing this themselves.
speechles 2055 Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 What about port 8920? Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
pir8radio 1312 Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Most hosting providers need a list of ports to pass to and from your server.... maybe you had these opened in the past and forgot? Maybe try changing emby's port to 32400 (plex) see if it passes?
itsmynewname 0 Posted July 13, 2016 Author Posted July 13, 2016 How would i change embys port on the server?
pir8radio 1312 Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 I think he can only SSH into that box, and can't access the web gui... I'm no linux champ, but If i had to guess, i would say you would have to stop emby from running and edit the config file, change the port there, then restart emby? Unless i misunderstood your original post?
