Hi Guys,

I updated my 14.04 server on Saturday, now emby crashes randomly. Also when you press reboot in the Control Panel it never comes back up. from looking at the processes (ps aux | grep mono  or   ps aux | grep emby), it never comes back.

Ubuntu 14.04 Fully up to date.

Emby Version  3.0.5985.0

Mono JIT compiler version 4.4.1 (Nightly 4.4.1.0/4747417 Wed Jun 22 11:14:49 UTC 2016)

No Plugins

Using Mono repository for Mono Packages, so I have the latest stable Mono

See logs attached, I have also turned on debug logging now.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi, in order to best help you, please see how to report a problem. Thanks!

Ok, I would try removing plugins and see if the issue persists with just the core server. thanks.

Hi Luke,

Since up-ing the open file limit, it has not crashed yet. I shall keep you posted.

Side problem, Also I was streaming from Kodi via plugin which uses HTTP stream by default and it was jumping ahead randomly, I changed it to SMB which fixed the issue, so that might be the server issue or Kodi plugin problem due to new server version..

Thanks for the report.

Hi Luke,

HTTP Streams are failing, after a little while of watching the stream cuts out and skips, or goes black. On Emby website it self it says "There was an error playing the video" or video breaks up and cuts out, happens on any video file.

Just had this happen with my Chromecast, IP: 192.168.2.254

Attached is a log in debug mode just after it happened.

Hi, we've seen issues with mono 4.4.1. I would try mono 4.2.3.4. Thanks.

Hi Luke,

I have successfully downgraded my mono to 4.2.1.102-0xamarin1. couldn't find 4.2.3.4 on any repo, I have got it from the Emby Repo

4.2.1.102-0xamarin1 0
    500 http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/emby/xUbuntu_14.04/ Packages

If anyone wants to know how follow this.

Remove emby and remove mono.

apt-get remove emby-server
apt-get autoremove

Add the following lines to /etc/apt/preferences

Package: *mono*
Pin: version 4.2.1.102-0xamarin1
Pin-Priority: -1

Now we install emby-server, it will now install with Mono 4.2.1.102-0xamarin1

apt-get install emby-server
