I configured the server to download it, which it does, but what is the proper way to now use that extrafanart in kodi? Are there certain skins that support it (and if yes, which ones), and how do you configure it? Would appreciate some input.

Sadly I must provide the generic answer: Music has not been touched since AZ:E (that's Kodi Isengard/Kodi 15) really because I simply just use iTunes to stream everything. However, the increasingly growing interest in the Music section means it will be visited for the Krypton update. I'm just not sure when in the Preview will it be implemented.
