bzand 0 Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 I have an old laptop set up with emby server and I live it. The only problem I have is that I don't access media off it often and would like to somehow put it into a lower power mode. Currently I have the pc set to go on at 6:45 a.m. as I get up around 7 and its set to go off at 8 p.m. that plan works great but since I only access media rarley it doent help much. I know of wake on lan but the pc connects via wifi and no way to run an ethernet cable. Also I would like to try to keep it all in one app being the emby app. I basically am trying to say like I open the emby app and than it somehow tells the pc to wake up. Is this at all possible?

I don't think so. But I love this subject. Not (very) sure but, there was/is away for wifi WOL. I'll check that in a few hours (I hope). /offtopic More intergrate WOL or similar options would be much appreciated. - Auto WOL (option) for Emby when trying to connect to a server - Auto sleep function for the server when no users are active
Mustang Dave 5 Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 I've been looking into this myself and this topic sparked me into looking into it again came across this from Microsoft... I haven't tried it yet, but it could be promising... https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee851581(v=ws.10).aspx Configure Wake on Wireless LAN (WoWLAN) Note This content applies to Windows 7. For Windows 8 content, see Windows Deployment with the Windows ADK. In Windows® 7, to enable support for Wake on Wireless LAN (WoWLAN) Group Temporal Key (GTK) Rekey, and Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) power-management scenarios, you must modify a registry key. GTK is used to encrypt and decrypt network traffic. EAP is an authentication framework that can be used over wired and wireless networks. GTK Rekey and EAP wakeup are disabled by default, because not all devices support these options. A computer that is currently sleeping will not wake up on GTK or EAP actions, even if the network adapter supports them. Warning Support for Wake on Wireless LAN in Windows 7 drivers is optional and some drivers might not support this functionality. If you follow the process and the option to enable this is still grayed out, then your driver does not support this functionality. Follow up with your hardware manufacturer for support information. To enable WoWLAN support for GTK and EAP scenarios To enable WoWLAN support for GTK and EAP scenarios, create or modify the following registry key: Key Name: EnableWoWLAN Type: DWORD Path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NativeWifiP\Parameters Value: 1 In addition to modifying this registry key, you must also configure the network device in the Device Manager. Open Device Manager. Right-click the network card you want to configure and select Device Properties. In the Power Management tab, select the Allow this device to wake up the computer check box. After configuring this registry key, the computer will respond to requests on GTK rekeying and to an EAP request-identity packet. 1
