Guest Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Hey guys, i have a little question to you, which botters me a bit. On my emby linux server, i have the problem that some of the media gets some "too small" images. The picture is very small, and it looks ugly. Is there any way i can prioritise images or replace images permanently? (If i edit it manually, it replaces after some time back to the small image) I hope there is a solution to this Greetings Cyberplay
Luke 42077 Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 You probably have a really tiny thumbnail sitting in your media folder. Try deleting that.
Guest Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Ive done that, and 10 minutes later the same tiny picture came back
Guest Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Sorry im german, I deleted the pictures from the metadata folder and manually added a picture. about 10 minutes later, the old picture replaced my picture.
Luke 42077 Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Even if that's true, internet images get higher priority, unless he changed metadata settings.
Luke 42077 Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 I would just use the web interface to download a better quality image.
Guest Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 I actually use the web interface to download a better image. Same issue. The image gets replaced every time.
Guest Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 what image file, exactly where? I cant use the "Save artwork and metadata into mediafolders" Feature, because if i do that, the whole library "deletes" itself, and some folders are not showing up (I checked the log, no entries) So the metadata is saved into the default metadata path (on my server, thats /emby/metadata/metadata/) In this folder, i mentoined above, are many folders, which contain the metadata. I searched the tiny picture and replaced it with an better picture. For about 15 minutes, it didnt replace the picture, but after that, it replaced it. Second try was, as you suggested, to edit the movie in the web interface. That did work for about 20minutes, then it replaced it again. Is there any debug function i can use to resolve this? Thank you for your patience and support, i know my english is difficult. Have a nice day
Guest Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 There are images in the media folder. The owner of the files is the emby user.
Luke 42077 Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 what is inside the media folder, can you show us? thanks.
Guest Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Im sorry, Do you mean the folder which contains the media or the folder which contains the metadata for the media?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 (edited) Can you provide a screenshot of the content in the media folder. Edited July 7, 2016 by Happy2Play
mgworek 134 Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 I had the same problem. I kept trying to replace the main poster and after a scan it would always put back the old one. I don't remember which was which but in the folder i had poster.jpg and i was using the web client to upload a new image and it was saving it as poster.png but it would always revert back to the jpg file. it might be the other way around with the jog and png files but as soon as i deleted the one if was reverting to, i was good to go.
Guest Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 https://upladen.space/selif/movies.text https://upladen.space/selif/metadata.text I "cant" upload a screenshot because im not using a desktop GUI. I uploaded two textfiles, if you dont trust this, i try to post it here.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 (edited) Neither of those files show the contents in media folder for "Everest". Your movies.text does show you have random images with your media files, this could be where the conflict is. Edited July 7, 2016 by Happy2Play
Guest Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 The blue text is the path where emby searches for movies, red text is the movie folder yellow text are the files. As you can see there is no file....
Guest Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Is there a possibilty where i can add the user emby to the usergroup of the user, which is the owner of the files? because if i activate this little feature here: all my libraries are not showing up and i have to identify every movie again...
Luke 42077 Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 do you have any hidden files inside the movie folder?

This is another issue but specific examples would need to be given. But looking at your movies.text, are they just not Identified and are present in the Metadata Manager and you would have to Identify then do to their naming scheme.
Guest Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 do you have any hidden files inside the movie folder? Nope, no hidden files This is another issue but specific examples would need to be given. But looking at your movies.text, are they just not Identified and are present in the Metadata Manager and you would have to Identify then do to their naming scheme. I rename nearly any movie myself, thats not the problem. the problem is that when i add one specific folder, the whole movie database gets fucked up and then it shows only the files from one folder.
Luke 42077 Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 have you been able to find the actual file location of this tiny image?
